You sure you are not confusing Buzz with Collins? Never seen Buzz wearing a Rolex. Collins wore a Rolex Turn-O-Graph at times during training for Apollo 11.

Here is a good one of Aldrin during Gemini 12 training.

Oops -- I confused Aldrin with Lovell. It's Lovell who loved his GMT. My bad :D

I think many of them loved their GMT's, maybe even more than their Speedmasters.

Man, he could use a trim. Of course I would never tell him that. Buzz can wear his hair however he likes it. :whistling:

Only if you're a Seiko fan. Here's a photo of Gerald Carr and William Pogue. I wonder what's on Pogue's other wrist...

25 years ago, USAF test pilot Joe Engle was inducted into the Aerospace Walk of Honor in Lancaster California, honoring test pilots who have contributed to aviation and space research & development. He remains the only human being to have flown two different types of winged vehicles in space: X-15 rocket plane and the Space Shuttle. A total of 6 official individual NASA portraits were made of Joe Engle... on his first (1971) and on his last (1986) he was wearing an Omega Speedmaster chronograph

Here's something you don't see everyday: an electronics wiz on a quest to re-create cutting-edge 1960s technology -- the DSKY display for the Apollo Guidance Computer. This is not a visual re-creation -- it's a true, physical re-creation -- right down to the chemical composition of the illumination elements. Talk about passion for something obscure. Wow.

Here's a link to some info on the Apollo Guidance Computer and the DSKY.

And here's something pretty cool: a DSKY simulator for your iPad!

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dsky/id567387896?mt=8

    From the developer:

"Although you can’t use Dsky to maneouvre your LEM or land on the moon, you can use it for some real-world down-to-earth applications:

Current GPS Latitude, Longitude and Altitude

Current attitude using the iPad acccelerometers.

Distance-to-go, time and velocity, using the iPad internal GPS.

A subset of the original DSKY verbs and nouns is faithfully implemented, allowing you to program and use the Dsky just like the Apollo astronauts did.

Unlike the original DSKY, you can configure Dsky to use your own choice of units: Meters, Nautical Miles or Statute Miles."

I bet Omega was thrilled to see another broken crown on an X-33 broadcast all over the internet again.
