·Hi OF,
For sale is my Heuer pre-Carrera, reference 404. This is the last Heuer model with no name on the dial, the Carrera model was released after this model in 1963.
Dial: 100% original eggshell dial with patina, all hands are original, all original lume, "Big Eye" subdials.
Case: Stainless steel, pushers and crown are original, case is unpolished.
Movement: Valjoux 23 that has been previously serviced, all functions work as it should.
The watch measures 34mm excluding crown, 18mm lugs width. Triple signed Heuer on the dial, inside caseback and movement.
Serial in between lug is 11730, no model number which is correct for early and pre-Carrera. Correct polygonal caseback, signed Ed. Heuer (short for Edouard Heuer, the founder of the company and Jack Heuer's great-grandfather). At some point a short while later, Heuer made the transition to using "Heuer-Leonidas" on the caseback and on the movement bridge. This was due to the Heuer purchase of Leonidas and the merger that took effect on January 1, 1964. The movement bridge is also signed Ed. Heuer.
No one does eggshell dial better than Heuer, especially the eggshell dial Carrera, and this one is no exception. The triangle shape tritium index reminds me of those Abercrombie & Fitch dial made by Heuer. “Made in Switzerland” on the bottom which is correct. It is much better in real life and has character as you would expect of a 1960s watch.
The watch is sold as is with a brand new Horween Shell Cordovan racing strap, no box or papers. Priced at REDUCED USD3,300 + shipping. Paypal or bank wire only.
Thanks heaps
Andre
