Great job, question how did you get that so white. I just got a “riviera “ looks like a cyma. Which I’m not planning on doing much to it, but some cleaning and a strap.

I think some of the whiteness in the second pic is just the lighting being different. Most of the dirt was loose on the surface with the bits around the edge needing a bit of a scrub with a moistened cotton bud.

Here is a pic I took at the beginning after just scrubbing around the 3 o'clock to see how it would come up.



Obviously this only works because it's an enamel dial, I wouldn't try this with any other sort of dial.

Thanks for the reply Carl, yeah mine are enamel, I just want some light cleaning one has a chip but It adds some character to the watch.

Hi everyone,

I have finally got the crown I need for the restoration.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I got hold of the crown by buying two Borgel cases that were on eBay. I used one crown for this watch but the other case is actually from another Helvetia Borgel watch from a few years earlier, 1924, so now I've got another project and there is a Helvetia movement in a screw in Borgel ring on eBay ay the moment, will it ever end!
