I’m pretty new to the vintage watch game but so far I’m loving all of these vintage ladies omegas! Right now I’m looking at this Ladymatic Cal 680 and wondering what thought you guys have on it

The gold plated case is very chewed up/beat up. Since ladies watches are plentiful and relatively inexpensive, you'll be able to do much better with a bit of patience.

Absolutely, be patient and wait for one that's in really good condition.

You should be able to get a nice example under 200$. This one is bit tired.

Where would be the best place to shop for them? all the ones I’ve been seeing on eBay go for $500+

Are they selling at 500$ or is it the asking price? Check sold listings.👍

Search Ebay, but check under Omega Ladymatic and this will turn up quite a number.

Ignore the watches with prices that will never sell and look at the ones with low starting bids.

If gold filled, gold plate or solid gold and on bracelets. Be sure to examine the pictures of wear through of damage to the plating. Solid gold. Wear to the lugs.

Steel models on bracelets will handle the wear much better, but best to look for all models on straps

Older vintage models came on fine bracelets or cords straps. They don't cause as much damage to plating as less area contact

Don't overbid. Not rare and plenty on Ebay everyday

Take into consideration that the movement may need a cleaning, so that will add to the cost overall

Goodluck

eBay (and chrono24) is overloaded with listings with high asking prices that never sell. It's hard to understand, but it's the truth. Apparently the sellers don't care since eBay doesn't charge anything to leave the listing up indefinitely. Every now and then someone will put a decent watch up for auction, but it's uncommon. You might have to wait patiently for one of those.

Alternatively, you can find someone who has a Best Offer option on their listing, and make an offer for a fair price, even if it feels like a lowball compared to the ridiculous asking price. To be frank, nobody is buying these ladies watches, and if you continue to make decent offers to sellers, someone will eventually accept it.

Be careful with gold-plated watches. The gold layer is very thin and easily damaged, so make sure you get a really good look at the watch from every angle.

That looks nice. Too bad about the private bidder thing. 😒

Yeah, I don't know why eBay keeps it available, all bidders are disguised anyway so it's pointless.

Unless you are trying to hide your shill bidder of course, but I'm just a suspicious old grump.

Could still be worth a stab though.
