Hi everyone,

I just got into vintage watches recently and looking for my first purchase of a Omega vintage watch.
However I am inexperienced when it comes to vintage watches, thus I would like to ask for advice for this piece that I came across recently and given opportunity to buy.

I am considering buying this watch and here are few things I noticed after some research:
1. Crown of the watch has been replaced
2. Dome is not original
3. New strap obviously
4. Hand-wound watch
5. Unknown service history
6. Produced around 1950

What I like about this watch are aesthetic of the well aged dial and size (because I have small wrist), but unsure if that justify the price of this watch (480$).
Therefore, I would really appreciate any opinion on this. Such as if the watch has been re-dialed, price point, any more modification or something is missing.

Thanks!

That’s a very, very rough watch for $480, you can do better for sure. Try looking at some late 60s Geneves and Cosmics they’re more water resistant and tend to be more original as a result.
