I know it's a cliche', but a friend actually did inherit this watch from his father a while ago. He knows nothing about it, and can't remember ever seeing his father wear it. Based on my "research", it appears to be a 1962 Seamaster De Ville. ST 166.0020. I couldn't get the case back off, so didn't get any pictures of the movement.

I am hoping that someone can confirm the reference, give me the type of movement, and a very rough value, if any.

    Thanks very much. deville1.jpg deville2.jpg deville3.jpg deville4.jpg

Find a ưatch maker to open it, the inside of the caseback has the info, maybe you can picture ít and post it back here

This watch might have an unishell case (case opening on dial side).
So you have to take the crystal out for repair, etc.

I think it could be a https://www.omegawatches.com/de/watch-omega-seamaster-de-ville-omega-cd-166-0020 since it is either gold caped or plated (or even solid).

Information regarding the steel version here: https://www.omegawatches.com/de/watch-omega-seamaster-de-ville-omega-st-166-0020

And it has a nice milanaise bracelet from GF Gay Frères. Probably in 750 gold. If I am not wrong.

Why are you saying 1962 - the only way I know to say it's 1962 is by the movement serial number, which you would have to open the case in order to see.

If you get a watchmaker to open the case, get nice clear pictures of both the inside caseback and the movement serial number and caliber.

I'm saying 1962 because that was the date on the image that most closely matched the watch on the Omega website.

That's not "know", that's "educated guess". Remember the serial number lists are only approximate.

I know that. But 'it looks like another 1962' is even more of guess. They way to know for sure is to get an extract of the archives... which also requires opening up the case and looking at the movement serial number and the case reference.

1962 was the prefix on the Omega vintage website. My assumption is that 1962 was when this particular design was introduced, although I'm not certain. I'm not sure why you put "it looks like another 1962" in quotes. In rereading the posts, I can't find where anyone stated that.

    A4C89E68-FD0D-4C7B-A024-BB3AA1F9D350.jpeg Hi there communìty!
This is my 166.0020 Omega DeVille from 1965 (according to the 22XXXXXX serial number), caliber 562 with a 18k gold case and black dial... the 166.020 was, as correctly said, and introduced in 1962.
