Help with BOR braclet & my chunky wrists

Afternoon OF,

Hope you're all well and looking forward to spring. I have finally recieved my 2nd vintage Omega purchase (delays thanks to Brexit). A 1964 167.005 cal. 551 Constellation.

I am new to the world of vintage watch collecting and have enjoyed reading OF members posts which have been so informative and entertaining. I brought the watch via a private seller who's listing on Ebay failed to sell. The gentleman was extremely helpful and would definitely buy from them again. The watch has has two owners, the orginal owner had left their watch in a draw and forgotten about it before he sold it on in his later years.

The seller has informed me that the dail, crown and glass are orginal. The BOR is an original Omega bracelet but the end links taken off from a Seamaster. It was last serviced in 2019.

Here are the photographs I've taken this afternoon:

My wrists are 7.5"/ 190mm and the braclet when closed just about fits on my wrist. I wouldn't be able to wear it as the bracelet pinches my skin. I would like your collective advice on whether I should source a band link to extend the bracelet or am I better off fitting an after market BOR bracelet to the watch?

Your thoughts and comments are welcome.

Make sure you get the correct width.

Or . . . If you don't want to deal with all that, I could unburden you. I have skinny wrists and am sure it would fit me. 😉

Congrats on the beautiful watch!

Hi Kit-kat and welcome. We need to see the stampings inside the clasp to know the model of the bracelet, but I fear those endlinks are not Omega- they should be stamped with a number (if from a Seamaster, it would be 11 or 12). I would want to see the inside clasp to verify if the bracelet is factory or not. There were several models of the 5-row BOR and 7-row BOR, the later I believe is what should be on this watch with 70 endlinks.

Looks like you added the clasp pic while I was typing. Made in USA bracelet wouldn’t have the numbers on the eindlinks- I am guessing the whole bracelet is from a Seamaster. You can add links to this bracelet (after the ones with holes) but you need to make sure you get the correct kind.

I would frankly just hunt down a 7-row BOR that is the right length with 70 endlinks- the fit to the case will be much better

Thank you @wagudc, that will be a great short term fix until I can source additional links.

Hi @JwRosenthal, thanks for your feedback, on the endlinks there is the number 11 engraved as per photograph below:

Thank you all for your comments and feedback. In terms of the bracelet I love the look of 3-row BOR. As @JwRosenthal has recommended the 7-row, would that have been the period correct braclet to have on the watch?

Was there a question? I just saw a ton of photos. Nice watch though.

Gotcha- couldn’t see in the pic. It’s a nice bracelet, and additional sections are out there without having to lose the factory clasp or add one of those extenders (I hate them). I would contact @No Mercy and see if he has any sections for that bracelet, or just sell that one to offset the cost of buying the correct bracelet.

It was, bracelet is too short 😉

Thanks. It was like one of those sales listings with the hidden price.
