Help with a 5513 Submariner

Spotted this 1970 5513 and hope the hive mind can give me some pointers. It looks to have a nice serif dial, ghost bezel (with a new pip) and reasonably sharp lugs. Anyone spot any warning signs?

The Bezel looks quite old for a replacement. Where is the watch located?

To me the insert looks like it may have been bleached to give it the ghost look. Fonts of the insert are thin.

Now that you mention it, it does look a bit evenly faded and doesn't have the sort of dings one might expect for something that aged. Nice call.

as with anything, the cost will be the deciding factor. I don't mind having a manufactured ghost bezel as long as I'm not paying the premium for an original ghost bezel.

The ghost bezel looks artificially aged and not very appealing to me.
The seconds hand is painted white, shouldn’t it be metal?

Sets off alarm bells that it could be an assemblage: incorrect bezel which has possibly been stressed (aged); hands don't match the lume; crown looks odd from that angle ... too many questions to sink money in to it.

http://www.5513mattedial.com/MaxiDialsGallery.html ... but I was looking at that second hand thinking it looked a fraction short. Is it short? Am I really that blind? There's a lot of questions about this watch, methinks.

As you've probably guessed, I'm not an expert at this, but I remember reading somewhere that lume mismatches between the dial and hands aren't necessarily evidence that they didn't start life together, although they can be and often are.

It's absolutely true that different compounds were used on hands and dials but they're not usually as varied as this one.

I'm looking at mine which is a few years earlier but the teeth are wider and the raised area thinner ... too tired to go searching online for reference photos but if you're still interested in the watch then go searching photos.

It is pretty but I am wondering if the dial lume has been done . It looks too even also doesn't match the hands.Having said that the lume can age at different rates.
Here's a pic of a gilt 5513 where the dial and hand lume is different but original.

I can be original, but mounted later.
The quadrants should be seen live, photographed without glass and from different perspectives. Personally I would never buy a watch with a dial like that, but this is just a personal opinion.

Dial looks ok to me.
Lume on the dial consistent and IMO original.

Insert is a later period and definitely bleached.
Crown looks like an original 24-700.
The Mercedes hands could be original to the watch, could be from a different one, could be relumed.
I've seen color and aging differences like this one before.
Too difficult to tell from this pic.
I don't see a reason for the white painted seconds hand as I'm only familiar with them on the 63XX, 62XX Submariner models.
