    Hi,
I would hugely appreciate the thoughts and comments from those in the know here on this 5513 I am considering.
I believe the dial is known as pre Comex which is correct for the serial number of The serial number is and it has a pre comex dial which I believe to be correct as it has a serial number 589XXXX, the tritium on hands and dial match well. The case looks very good to me, neither overly polished or recently recut and the crystal looks original. But what I cannot work out is the bezel insert, it is trapezius in the 40 and the 40 has a serif on the horizontal bar but this does not seem to match others for sale of this era. It appears to be in good condition though also glossy which leaves me with some doubts.
It would be great if those with more experience could give me their input

I know essentially nothing about Rolex, so I can't comment on the originality of parts, but WOW! The watch really looks quite lovely!

Thanks ATWG, it was from the 5513mattedial site where I learned it was a pre-comex dial, is there something else you think I have missed? But it doe say very little about bezels.
    Cheers

Look, depending on price, the watch can be attractive. The case isn't the best, the crown guards are thin and the lugs are well rounded as the chamfers have been polished. A period correct MK3 will cost around $1.5-2K which you'll need to take into consideration. The case is where it gets tricky, while the insert can easily be sourced, the same cannot be said about the case. The polishing done on this watch is permanent and detracts quite a bit of value. You'll need to make that determination and see what's out there in the market.

I can tell you there is a beautiful 5513 on sale here in the private section (I have no affiliation to seller whatsoever), just compare the cases, you'll see what I'm referring to above.

Insert is later and case is a bit over polished, as correctly stated.

I would add that the dial is a bit earlier compared to the serial, you can usually find Precomex dial in early the 5 mil serial number.

True. My pre-Comex is 5.1M, but I don't know if 5.89M can be absolutely ruled out. Unfortunately, the OP didn't share anything about the watch's history, and the photos look very professional, which makes me a little nervous.

Thank you for the input everyone, I have no background on the seller, it is not from a known dealer and you are right the photo’s do look professional.

I did not pick up on the case, I thought it looked quite thick and strong, not looking close enough at the crown guards I guess.

Was thinking of offering US$15k max, not sure if it is actually worth going that high?

$15K is way too high for that watch, if you add 2k for a period correct insert it puts the watch at $17K. I don’t see it, has a weak case and that matters a lot.

I’d move on, plenty out there to choose from.
