Im sorry but looking at Chrono24 and checking actual Ebay sold auctions I just do not see anywhere near 10K
Ive seen a few cleaner yet still unrestored go in the low 8's in the past couple months.

Thanks guys, the scratch was on it when I picked it up. I’m not going to use ebay, too risky and too many unknowns for me.
Maybe Chrono24 or preferably a private sale

Sorry missed the last post, yes you are correct 10k is too high for a nice clean quick pvt sale. I agree with your pricing. Thanks for the reality check.
Cheers

Nice watch! When you list it on Chrono24 make a high res. photo to the dial. Also write in the description that is a "one owner" watch. It will add value to your sale 😀

hello to everyone.
I have had the omega agents down here in Auckland, New Zealand take a look inside with a view to restoring it to top working condition. The agents were insisting that I have the hands replaced for fear of contamination, I was unwilling to do this for fear of damaging its collectability.

good for you, you did not trust the agents. 👎

Omega agents are known to insist changing hands, pushers and crown. And yes, i am taking a risk here but i always like one owner watches.

That said, i can comprehend where you are coming from.

Your bezel looks like it came from a time capsule. Amazing...

As Teo says the watch is on its way to a new home in Singapore.
Thanks to all the unselfish sharing of knowledge and advice that I received from the forum, isn't the internet a wonderful thing.
Just a quick note on the owner, my dad. He was a WW2 veteran who served in the pacific on the then highly secret US RADAR technology. He was always a tech guy, and a scientist, so it was natural when the space program came along that he would be inspired to buy a moonwatch. he would have seen the Gemini flights reported and that probably inspired him to buy the Speedmaster. He probably purchased it on an overseas trip when you could buy "Duty free", and bring back to NZ as personal effects.
He was the envy of his young son, me, with this cool watch.
He passed away one year ago at 95 years old, and I was keen for someone to have the watch who would appreciate it not just for its monetary value, but for the inspiration that the Moon program had on a then young tech guy.
Watch out for the Mars watch.

Hi Mark, thank you for more information on the ownership behind the watch.

My condolences to your dad's passing though it has been a year ago. I have always respected those who put their lives on the front line trying to gain control of the Pacific back. Countless lives were lost and to many, it was not even supposed to be their war. Many Asian countries/lives were freed as a result of their bravery. May they rest in peace.

Glad you could sort something out @42south !

Wish I could have had the funds to get it and have it cleaned up, next time I guess 😀

I hope the new owner shares it once it has a trip to the spa!

Definitely will share the photos once i get it back from the watch maker... estimated 5 months.

Here's a couple after cleaning the outer case with some alcohol swap... and on it's way to the watch maker.

that's a beautiful blue bezel. could be one of the few cause i dont see much speedys with this kind of ring. you dont probably need to replace the acrylic glass because its original. it only needs an expert tlc buffing.

I will not be replacing anytime. Just a full service and cleaning. The lume on the dial is not nice but it is honest and has a character of it's own.

Might be opening a can of worms here...

Looking at the dings and scratches on the bezel, i am inclined to think that Omega did supply blue bezels to their cal 321 Speedmasters. It's not just a matter of the paint turning blue. The 'depth' of the pin holes, sctaches is consistently blue as well. What do the experts think of this?

If they are dents, the surface layer would be depressed and retain the surface colour.
If they are gouges, the surface layer would be removed exposing the bare metal underneath.

I think it was a black bezel that has aged nicely.

Agreed 100% ... the bezel has simply aged to an unusual color.
