Help with 1960 Seamaster

Hi there,
I'm in the market for a vintage Omega, which I've honed down to a Seamaster. I have found one online and would just like some opinions or advice on its authenticity, and whether you believe it to be a nice example of a vintage Omega.

Many thanks,
Thomas

I am also watching a second Seamaster. It's a little more expensive than the first but again, I'd appreciate some thoughts and advice.

Thank you!

The first one has a repainted dial and the case is in terrible condition, with severe gold plating loss on the lugs. It's a disaster.

The second one looks better, if you are looking for a quartz watch. Most people who are interested in vintage Omega watches are interested in mechanical movements.

Yep, the first one is no good. What is the asking price for the quartz Seamaster?

They are two very different watches. The first is a classic entry level Seamaster but in terrible condition, the second is a much later watch with little collector value in what’s appears to be ok condition.

Thank you, you've confirmed by concerns about the first.

The second is around $525, which I'm leaning more towards. Out of interest why would you say there is little collector value?

It's a quartz. In general, they are less desirable.

Edit: these later models are less desirable as well.

Quartz watches simply aren't collectable unless it's an unusual reference, which this one isn't.

Don't be in a hurry!

Is that two tone, gold on steel?

You’re spreading yourself quite thin here, what kind of watch are you looking for - just a vintage Seamaster or any particular era or style?

I'm drawn to the vintage Seamaster for sure. Gold plated with white dial ideally.

Another I'm liking the look of here

A bit hard to see, but gold-capped with gold bezel, I think. Looks ok at first glance.

Ok, third option. Again, any advice much appreciated!

This one looks pretty good from the provided photos, although I see a worn crown and missing lume in the minute hand.

Price?

The last two are the best of the bunch.

Make sure to pay close attention to the lug edges with these gold cap/plate models as this is one of the areas where the gold commonly wears through to the base metal.

I’d recommend going for gold cap rather than plated. My first Omega was gold plated and I later came to regret it 🙁
