Both the above are helpful and I’ve also gone onto Ranfft because the seller said the watch had a 2472 21 jewel movement.
There’s a New Jersey company marketing 'Delano' watches and since this is a US watch, I suppose it may be their 1960s offering and Croton, a brand I know little about, seem to have a watch with a similar movement.
I suspect that this is a generic Swiss movement (albeit a pretty one) inserted into a nice case but I can probably live with that.
Great looking case, dial and furniture - who cares if it's a "generic" movement? I'd be surprised if it is less capable than less common period movements..!
Thank you @Spruce for buying that--I've salivated over it on+off since it first showed on ebay like 2 years ago. I couldn't find anything about Delano either, but lordy—if it's as nice in person as the pictures showed it, you've done very well. Thanks again.

Thanks @Wlcutter, if that’s a dibs I’ll let you know how I get on with it.

Thanks for those nice remarks. I’ve spent the time since I bought it debating whether or not I should pat myself on the back or kick myself a bit lower down! 😀
