Because of resale value?

To a watch collector two identical watches, one with engraving one without, the one without will be more highly valued it is said.

As yours is a forever gift the theoretical impact to later value should not be a consideration in my view - but that’s me!

I’ve been thinking about this— would love for someone to weigh in. He has other watches that I could snag, would a jeweler(or whoever does this kind of thing) be able to size this watch accordingly? I made sure the watch I was purchasing had a max wrist size larger than his.
Any watch on a leather strap, if worn enough, would have an identifiable wear mark where he buckles it, and that will be the minimum size (allowing for wrist expansion from wearing a suit, and all those nerves...). Go on up and grab one of his well loved watches now and take a look, we’ll wait here 🍿

I wouldn't go with a mushy statement.

If your keen on an engraving I'd go with something simple on the clasp such as:

A.B. - C.D.

My wife and I agree on engraving the caseback with, “I'll love you until the end of time, Cabela1414” and do not worry about resale value, if he divorces you then you want the value to be reduced.

Substitute your real name for the forum username. The date is optional if there is no room.

Wow,
congratulation to your future hubby to have such a wonderful wify 👍👍

And the watch you've elected is one of my personal sweet spots from Omega. My advice in terms of engraving the watch would always be to only do it on the caseback. There is plenty of place for your wedding date and your 'til the end of time (great words as I think and up to that occasion).

Here is some reading pleasure and pics how it could look like at the end of the day

Cheers,

Winny

Great idea, great watch and lucky bloke! Going with the spare caseback option mentioned in the linked thread might be the safest bet though

Fantastic gift. He's a lucky man.

I will vote for engraving the case back and not worrying about resale value for all the reasons already stated.

For the message I think a simple infinity symbol with your initials and a date would be really nice.
Alternativly I also like the 'Until the end of time' suggestions.

All the best for the wedding and the times to come.
