Hi, from a first time Omega buyer.

Found this 38mm 1965 131.019 for sale and hoping you all can help me make an informed decision here. Is there anything that suggests this isnt authentic? I haven't seen it in person yet, and can't meet at a watch shop or jeweler with all the Covid-19 closures.

What would this be worth? Good price?

What should I look out for? I've been browsing the different help posts on here, and they are amazing! Thank you! But still hoping for some specifics with this one.

Looks legit, but based on what I can see in the photos, I'm not crazy about the condition of the case. Maybe you can post better photos showing the lugs more clearly. I don't think this reference is 38mm, probably 34mm is more accurate.

    It's 100% not 38mm. It's 34 and I would not spend more then EUR 300/325.

What is the price you've been offered it at?

It was listed at 350 usd, but after speaking with him, have it down to 250 usd. Haven't confirmed the measurement yet, nor brought that to his attention. I am a bigger person, so would prefer the larger size.

Great input here so far. I'll see if I can get better pictures of the lugs. Funny, I thought it was in too good of condition, but perhaps it's overly polished?

Also, I think I am seeing some sort of blemish on the face behind the 6 o'clock "marker" (I'm sure it has name, that I am not aware of).

Polish is the issue to me, but I am pretty new to this. There should be facets on the lugs, but the edges are all polished away.

38mm vintage Omega dress watches are not common. They are known as "jumbo" references and carry a significant price premium. Speaking very roughly, each 2mm in size approximately doubles the price, everything else being equal. This is just my own rule-of-thumb, others may feel differently. :)

...Unless you look at late sixties/seventies models where there are quite a few of this size. The aesthetics, however, rarely are what people think of when picturing a typical vintage watch in their minds.

The 168.034/5 Seamasters come to mind:

(btw, @Peemacgee et al, here's another Omega variant that only comes with date/day-date chronometer movements. Guess the 168.022 is another)
