You nailed it - knowing it's a Caliber 23.4 SC makes total sense for me.
Unfortunately, I don't have the watch in hand to take clearer photos as it isn't mine - I'm currently just considering buying it. Still, I really appreciate the insight and help!
Sure thing. Often, you can ask sellers for additional photos (or stop by again and take clearer ones if you saw it in person).
From the serial number, the watch is from the late 1930s.
While I can't see the dial very well, the fact that it is black means that it comes with additional risk - since many black dials were originally white and have been repainted
