Help on Omega Geneve Dynamic

Hi all,

My name is Alberto and I'm new in this forum, nice to meet you all.

I just approached the Omega world because my father gifted me its Omega Dynamic (see the image below).

Searching on Internet I learned it should be a Dynamic generation 1 built in the 70s. On the back it has the inscription "tool 107 weatherproof", but there is no the ref number.

I'm quite sure it is original because my mum bought it for my father from a dealer in Italy. Not sure when, but I could check if needed.

Since there are a lot of expert here, I woul like to ask your help on the below items:

1. watch face doesn't have the word "Automatic" under the writing Omega, but I believe it is automatic. I saw a videos on youtube of a person that open a similar watch (w/o the word Automatic), but it has the automatic movement inside. Does someone knows if certain models were sold w/o the word automatic?

2. I believe Caliber should be 565 but I'm not totally sure

3. The crystal doesn't have the omega logo in the center. Does it means that my father changed the crystal with a not original one? Or this model didn’t come with the logo on the crystal? Since the crystal is not perfect, does someone knows the ordering code and can suggest where is possible to buy a new one?

4. Where I can find the ref. number for this model? It should be 166.xxx but I'm wondering if I have to open the watch to find it

5. last but not least, the watch doesn't have the bracelet and I would like to buy a new one. I prefer a stainless steel bracelet but I also need the metal ring to fix it to the watch. Does someone knows the ordering code and can suggest where is possible to buy them? (both bracelet and metal ring)

Thank you!

Alberto

The reference number should be inside the case. This model is one where you remove the movement from the front. Definitely not something a casual user could do easily. There were some models that were not automatic/self winding.

Pretty much the definitive place that most people start learning about these watches is at https://omega-constellation-collect...10/omega-geneve-dynamic-i-best-seller-of.html . Download the PDF file linked there to get a detailed history. Tons of threads if you search here too.

Just based on a quick glance through Desmond's PDF again, my guess is you have the reference 136.0033 w/ caliber 613 hand wind movement. But always happy to be politely corrected!

The OP should be able to determine if he has a hand-winding or automatic movement, simply by winding the crown until it stops ... or doesn't. Or spinning the watch and listening for a rotor. Or several other ways.

OP's watch would be manual wind. If it was automatic, it should say automatic on the dial. I've seen a few examples without the word automatic, but had automatic movements and I surmise those had the dials replaced with the dial from the manual wind model.

The reference number is inside the case. Finding it, won't help you much because these cases are usually engraved with 4 references and were used across almost all first generation dynamics, except the day-date varieties. Here is a photo of what it usually looks like:

So the watch is manual wind if it's not written on the dial "automatic". I think it will be difficult to spot a bracelet for this model but you can try to search on ebay. And you also have a very nice box 😀 ( Never seen that model before )

Finding the bracelet/strap retainer ring is going to be a real challenge, even more so than finding a bracelet.

Start searching eBay. Finding a damaged but complete watch may be your best bet.

Be advised too, that there are more replica/fake bracelets for these out there than genuine ones.

Nice family heirloom. Good luck.

Thank you all for the good hints

The pdf file on Omega Constellation Collectors was really useful. I found that my model is 136.033 w/ caliber 613 hand wind movement as I also verified it (see pictures). Into the pdf I also found the bracelet code 1153/138

As next step I’ll search on eBay for both:
- bracelet 1153/138
- new Crystal PZ5083

Thanks

@peatnick , sorry if my description was not appropriate. I’m referring to the ring where the bracelet is connected. See the picture enclosed.

@kohster , yes I did everything myself.

I will reiterate that there are more replica/fake bracelets for these out there than genuine ones, including the part in question.

Be careful if you don't have the proper tool. It is easy to ruin the dials on these by opening them improperly and without the Omega 107 tool. A lot of people use the air pump to pop off the crystals. I've seen that bend and distort the dials.

Yes, when the pressure really builds, and it finally pops the crystal off, the rush of air out of the case can do some damage.

Thanks all, sorry for my late reply.

No worries, I have the crystal lift tool and I’m now waiting for the new Crystal.
