Help on Costellation purchase

Hello everyone,

I am now to this forum as I want to start my Omega collection and I need some help 馃榾

I would like to buy a Costellation 167.005 year 1963, but I am not sure if the price is ok (around 1,500Euro) and if the crown is the original one

I trust the retailer when he says that it is Omega original, but maybe it is not from this exact model? I have seen plenty of pictures of the same watch with the hexagonal crown, which I think it fits more with the rest of the design, so it looks more it own part

Can you please help me (also about the price)?
Thank you
T

Crown isn't the original crown. Hard to judge the overall condition of this piece from that one picture.
But for 1.5k you should be able to get a pie pan.
Pass on that one.

I would say that price is high.
I would not wanna pay more than 1k for a non pie pan Connie. That would be in very good condition and serviced.

chrono24 is not the best place for getting a good deal. have a look here on the forum...

The picture you posted looks like a scan out of a book or brochure.

Oh, and by the way make sure that it is a CoNstellation you get.
Costellation or Costelletion is something completely different and not something you'd really want to buy ... 馃槈

ahah, nice!
thank you
the picture is actually me taking it on the laptop screen, so of course it looks so fake

I found a new watch on Etsy that looks better maybe, the crown is the original one, but the hands have not the black line inside... so it looks like you always have to compromise on something (strap as well is not Omega original)

Price is around 1,200 Euro
what do you think?

Welcome @Tommaso Volpe
Other than the black line - what else can you you see that differs about the hands compared to the previous watch you posted?

they look very similar
both ref is 167.005
the previous one looks more polished, but this is not necessarily a good thing , but he definitely has an original Omega bracelet ...

How about the length?

Omega bracelet means nothing and should not be a criteria. There are aftermarket straps better than the Omega ones.
An Omega buckle is more desirable and important!

Hello Tommaso,

The watch you posted is from Omega Addict, Tim is very good with giving the full story of the watch. On this example, the only non original parts are the crown and the crystal. He does polish his watches quite a bit, but if that doesn鈥檛 bother you, then you will get a good looking piece.

You don鈥檛 have to compromise. You just have to be patient. Give yourself six months to find a good one.

hi, I actually ended up buying the one from Tim... maybe a rocky mistake, but I was not patient (this is my first Omega!)
anyway, I thought that the crown was the original one exactly because it is hexagonal, while others sell "normal" crowns...
let's see when it arrives, in any case I am sure I will be happy and if I follow this forum my next Omega purchase will be more conscious
(happy to be part of the community anyway)

Tim has a source of newer replacements with slightly different logos. Not sure if this one is that or original without seeing the logo.

Congrats Tommaso on your new watch.
thank you, I hope overall Tim is a good source of watches... I have read some reviews before buying it and he seems to be reliable enough...
