Help on Constellation dial

Good morning everyone,

New to the forum and new to the hobby of vintage watches. I have really started to admire the vintage Constellations with pie-pan design and I’m trying to find a decent example but original not refinished dial. I would appreciate opinions on whether this example looks legitimate and an original not refinished dial as that is what the seller has said. I noticed a black line going from the “t to the dot in the i” in the word constellation almost like it could be refinished. The minute ticks also look a bit higher from the pan edge. It is a 168.005 model with 561 movement currently priced at 1600 usd. Opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Walk away from that one, you can find some good examples often in the eBay recommended thread and a razor sharp steel piepan with an original dial recently went for less than that

IMO the dial looks ok to me but the lugs seem rounded and the price is not so good

I would suggest it is a redial.
The quality of the script and the location in relation to the star is a no-go for me.

The edges of the piepan facets where they meet the center of the dial also appear rounded off which is typical for a refinished dial

Dial is rough on that one. Honestly would just watch the vintage Omega ebay thread and bid on one you like the look of. You will find a better watch at a better price doing that.

It’s not just refinished the case also is shot, I would not buy it at any price, even $500

IMO, the watch is very ugly, but the bracelet may be ok. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I see that you don’t like that kind of aged dial. I refused the offer btw. Too many buy in this month. I need to slow down the accumulation process 😁

Good thinking. Passion at the start leads to poor buys. In time you get to know your tastes better and can see a good buy when it comes up.
