Hi
i am thinking about purchasing this omega
the crystal obviously needs a replacement and the crown does not look original to me.
the price is currently $95
i am planing everyday use so it needs a service to, and there are no pictures of the movement.
furthermore the case looks quite damaged but i think the price reflects that.
what do you guys think?
thanks in advance
Cheers

I think that you would be better off to wait and purchase an entry level Omega from another member on the OF private watch sales forum. Reasonable buys come up frequently.

I would second what gbesq says.
Patience is key. It might appear quite cheap but the overall condition isn’t appealing and who knows if any part needs to replaced.

I think it's a steal at that price. For parts alone it's worth more.

Will clean up well. Service and crystal around $200. So, if you get this for $158, you are fine. Dial is original, has Swiss Made as well. Bowler Hat crown period correct. Not a collector piece, but a nice everyday watch.

I guess that I’m more conservative than some of the other members on this one. Unless I knew the seller or had a considerable amount of trustworthy feedback, I wouldn’t buy any watch without first seeing a photo of the movement. Even one priced at $95. But I guess the flip side is that if it’s a disaster, the OP is only out $95 plus shipping.

You should go for it. The price is very good. You have to spend some money on it, but if the movement is ok, that wouldn't be too much. A new crystal and a little polishing...buy it

I think at that price I could be secure in the fact that if it was a turkey I certainly wouldn't lose much when it came to selling on. Dial looks decent, I think the case is sharp enough although there are dinks .Sometimes it's worth taking a punt. That's not to say I'd bid a lot higher than your $95 though.

If you pass on it let me know where it is, I’d take a shot at it for $95.

Buy it. S/S cases can be cleaned up to a point. I see a few spots that won't clean up, but the rest of the case would look OK after a light polish.

Movement alone as lone as it's reasonable is worth the price

It's a perfectly good honest watch except for a couple of marks on the dial and missing lume in the hands. Just needs some TLC. I don't think it will go as cheap as you hope.

This is the problem with asking about open auctions and not buy it now listings- they never stay as cheap as we may want and the added attention breeds competition. Sure, to many of us this is a “starter” Omega and we wouldn’t be interested so the OP has a shot clear of us- but this is a publicly viewable forum so who knows who’s reading.
