Hello I've recently purchased a Omega 198.0008 Sea master and have spent a lot of money getting it repaired and serviced .
The movement fitted is plain steel not gilded the signed Omega plate showing the caliber and serial number is missing .
My question is are all the Omega 1250 movements gilded .
Hope there is someone on this forum who can help me .
Thanks
Norman

The ETA ESA 9162 ( Omega 1250) was used by several manufactureres, maybe you have an non branded exchange movement
Kind regards Max

All Omega 1250, 1255 and 1260 are copper coloured. It's not unusual to find them with silver coloured movement as it was easier to replace parts or even the whole movement with a new one. Quite complicated and not all watchmakers know how to fix them

Hi Norman,
And welcome to OF.
It’s generally useful if you post photos; watch face, movement, caseback, to help us form a clearer view and, possibly, give better advice and insight.
It may also be helpful to know where you are based and members may be able to recommend a specialist repairer for service or repairs. As @ketiljo says, there are not as many specialist electronic watch repairers as you might think.
I have two cal 1250s, and very much like them.

Thanks for the information .
I have attached an image if the movement although it's not great .
To be honest I'll be disappointed if it's not an original Omega movement or at least an Omega service replacement .
I'm located Nottingham East Midlands UK so any Watch repair recommendations welcome .

The _only_ difference between a ESA 9162, which you have here, and an Omega 1250 is the color. So nothing to worry about.

The case, caseback and bracelet look fine but I appreciate that the movement is “not great”. The difference in colour and the absence of Omega detail will adversely effect the value.

I can see how it looks now but was it like when you acquired it/bought it and before you sent it away for repair and service?

Did the repairer give you a detailed summary of work done and parts replaced?

Sorry I've just noticed .
"Hello I've recently purchased a Omega 198.0008 Sea master and have spent a lot of money getting it repaired and serviced"
Should have said "spent a lot of money getting it needs a repair and service ".

Well, I’m generally pessimistic but I’m afraid it doesn’t look like good news.

Given the appearance of the movement and depending on how the seller described the watch, I’d be inclined to try and return it for a refund.

Unless you bought it having seen the movement (or photos) or the seller informed you that it wasn’t a signed Omega 1250 movement, I’d try and send it back. If he did tell you and if you had a chance to look at the movement before you bought it, you’re probably stuck with it.

If you keep it and it runs, then I’d suggest you just wear it.

You might find a donor movement but 50 year old 1250s can be a bit temperamental.

Paul Wirdnam (electronic-watches.co.uk) has been recommended to me but his website says he’s on holiday until October.

I’ve used the Croydon Service Centre. I send watches by insured next day Royal Mail (even though I’m in London). They charge £30 to examine the watch and about £300 to repair plus parts and postage

As I mentioned earlier, it’s possible to buy a donor movement but I can’t see that helping in your case.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for your advice .
My wife got me a battery from local shop who do watch batteries ( £9 can you believe it!!)
I fitted the battery there was a bit of dirt on the terminal so I cleaned it .It was humming and the second was twitching but not working .
I've just checked it now and it's working and has been running for a couple of hours now .
I won't be getting it serviced it stands me a little over £300 the case / strap /dial and hands are in very good condition but it will never be genuine or original with this movement .
I didn't see the movement the seller wasn't able to remove case back so he didn't know . I've accepted he didn't know and didn't intentionally deceive me so I have put it down to experience .
I have a Constellation in good condition with the 1250 movement and it's a great watch probably the best timekeeper I've got so I wanted to add the sea master model .
I've got a few other Omega's I'll try to get some pictures and ask the forums opinion on them .
Once again thanks

Well, I think you’ve got the right perspective about this watch. Glad it’s worked out.
