It's a real watch.
And it's also a fake or more correctly known, a counterfeit.

Well, you’ve now joined OF - so that’s a big first step. Just follow the various threads, comments and decide which models interest you.

Check it out here before you buy.

Read this https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/,

…. and, unlike some, remain polite.

Good luck

This one is about as obvious a fake as you will see. The watch is masquerading as a chronograph (wrist stop watch). It has two fake chronograph push buttons, plus the crown. The subsidiary dials are, one for the DATE, on for 24-HOUR TIME, and one for the DAY. A real chronograph would have one dial for running seconds, one as minute totalizer, and one for the hour totalizer. And the top and bottom buttons actually function to operate the chronograph. All this, plus your fake only vaguely resembles a real Omega.

If you know what the legitimate watches look like, then anything else is a fake. I know that sounds glib, but it's pretty much the truth.

Of course, in this case it's easier, since the watch is masquerading as a chronograph, but is not a chronograph.

Fake as hell.

Sorry, but your grandad skimped on the real deal.

In this case, just the general lack of quality, precision visual aesthetics tell you it’s a fake. Logo lacks clarity. Hour indices look odd. Small dial combo makes no sense. Case looks like it was made in CSE metalwork (and he failed) Remember, a £5k-£10k watch should exude quality, precision - you don’t necessarily need to be an expert on brand models.
