Why not a 16800 mate dial ? The vintage look of a 1680 + a quick-set date and a modern reliable mvt, the best of two worlds !

Tuff choices there. I have owned them all and the 1665 is just a magical watch IMO.

But if it were I with possible investment space I would buy a nice Day-Date 1803 or 18038 in the best possible condition I could find. These watches are off the radar presently and it's only a matter of time.

So some 25 years ago I bought the 5513 and still have with box papers tags and receipts. This thread made me go check. Its on an 89. Great watch. Wore it tons in the early days. A timeless classic for sure. I would still go with that.

Thanks all...finally settled on a 5513 and after sorting through what was out there settled on this one. I hope I did okay on the patina side of things...I think so.

Thanks, the production puts it - as you may know - toward the end of the maxi dial production, this one being a Mk-4.
I notice that you started this thread and your search for a vintage around July this year. Looks like you did your homework and found a very fine example!
During this time I bet you saw a bump in price as well, these are going up in price quickly..
Congrats again!
