This was my Dad’s watch.
This is what we’ve been told about it.
Can anyone confirm or correct the information.

Case: CK2577. First Generation
Probably 1952
Breguet numerals
Second hand is completely wrong
351 or 354 movement.

Thanks.

The photo isn't quite good enough for me, but the font sure looks interesting. I do think the hour and minute hands seem correct.

Not a 2577.

Dial has been very poorly refinished.

Thanks, but the dial is 100% untouched original. My Dad died in 1966 and the watch has been in a display case ever since. The second hand was replaced in during a service in 61 or 62. The watchmaker bent the original hand. He was going to get a proper replacement but never followed through.

Can you post a better picture? But the placement of the text seems off, as well as the text itself.

You never know with these, your dad might have had some water damage, and a watchmaker "fixed it," and to him it was always original.

Clearer photos of the dial are needed.

With what is presently seen here the dial appears to be a redo with lettering that looks like I hand printed it.

I’m not sure anyone can really call redial with confidence based on that fuzzy pic alone. The missing Swiss Made text is a concern but it may be under the crystal ring. As noted, it’s not a 2577 but some other 40s or 50s model.

Even with the poor photo, there is little doubt that the dial has been repainted IMO, based on the basic shapes of various letters.

This.

2577 case backs fit on a number of other mid-cases, so it might have been replaced.
Not unlikely the watch was redialed in the 60s by the way.

Thanks everyone. I think my next move is to have the watch torn down completely, photographed throughout the process, and fully serviced.

If the intent is to preserve it, and wear it, that's great! I'd love seeing a picture of the final result. Hope you wear it in good health, and enjoy it.

Maybe you are seeing the pic in higher res than me but I suspect there is so much compression and artifacts there that it’s impossible to say. If the OP were to post a better picture we could put this to bed but for now I will say that I see no smoking redial gun as yet.
