Greetings, I am thinking of buying a vintage Omega and have pictures of it. However, I know nothing about it and cannot find the name of it. The back of the casing has the numbers "4044" and there is a number on the movement that is "9840392." Please can you shed some light on this piece? Thank you. http://imgur.com/a/JXlHL
Hey sorry, I am new here. What is that a link to? And what does it show/tell me about my watch? They all look different to mine.
More or less yes. Dials do not decide models. ( At least on most vintage) One model can have dozens of dials or be made of different metals.
Ah, I see. What would you pay for something I have linked? Given the movement etc. Is the movement considered rare or anything special?
More? For a watch with a patinated radium loaded dial and a heavily polished case and a movement without shock protection and no evidence of having been recently serviced? If you want a vintage watch to wear daily or so then find one with shock protection.
Indeed. He did tell me that the movement was really clean and it looks like it had been serviced recently but I dont think he has evidence of such claim.
Yes, François, you're right, 23.4SC. By the way, there is no 26.5 with central second. It is indeed a CK4044. References refer to the case design, and can have been marketed with a lot of different dials or hands. Engravings on the caseback can vary also with the same reference.
