Was my mother’s watch which she gave to my wife. Manual wind, 14K WG and 28 single cut diamonds. We believe it’s from the 70’s but possibly early 80’s. Thank you!

The movement serial will give you a more precise date, but there's really not much to know about these.

I often see similar snazzy small lady's watches being worn so I guess they must have a decent following. Are these rather newer versions like the OP's still called "cocktail watches"?

I guess. It's more of a style/genre thing. Honestly haven't paid much attention.

Welcome @Namakan, nice to have a family heirloom being passed down. Not all models have a special name or history, It seems the key info is what you already know: it’s a gold ladies watch probably from the 1970s.

Forum member @Vitezi once posted some very nice catalogs of ladies watches with integrated bracelets, perhaps a little earlier but also in that style. If you do a search using the forum search functions you should be able to find those posts.
Best regards

Based on the shape of the omega symbol Ω I think your watch dates to the early 1970s, possibly the late 1960s. I cannot find your exact watch in an old catalog, but here are some similar designs of ladies "Geneve" models from 1967:
