Help Identifying Speedmaster

My Grandfather passed away several years ago and my mother recently found a Speedmaster he had. I don’t have it with me to take the case back off and look for a serial/ref. number inside the case. Anybody got any ideas of a year range this would have been produced. Thanks in advance.

Mid-70s probably. If you have it opened and show the numbers inside, you will get more detailed info.

That will be a nice watch once it’s cleaned up. There seems to be a step on the dial which means it’s either a ref 145.022-69 or 145.022-71. Probably made ‘70-‘73

I am with Davidt and tend to the -71. Just the chrono second hand is wrong and from an earlier watch or a service hand.

I can also see the step, so a ref 69 or 71.
The watch looks very promising, but in need for a service and cleaning (no polish..!!!).
But let us know were you live, and members can point you to a skilled watchmaker.

Thanks for the help everyone. I do plan on getting it serviced and cleaned up. It’s definitely staying in the family. I live just outside of Mobile, AL so if anyone happens to be familiar with a skilled watchmaker in south AL/MS or Florida panhandle that would be great.

OK, very poor photo, but looking closely I can see the step on the 11 o'clock marker.

You will probably need to ship it within the US. Search the forum for recommendations.
