Hello,
Reaching to knowledgeable Omega gurus.
I have viewed hundreds of photos and cannot find a similar number 3. Tried doing the homework but stuck on this one.
I am not capable of removing the crystal, dial etc. to check for movement number.
This is a family watch and was purchased in Germany somewhere between 1965 and 1969 new. Details are foggy.

I am trying to find the date and year of this Omega. It resembles a 1965 Deville but the dial does not show Deville.
The numerals look like Deville but the number 3 is completely different than I have been able to find.
Please look at the 3 and see what you think.
I have not seen the shape of this 3 anywhere.
Planning on restoring this watch so the info would be helpful for parts.

Thanks again
Mike

Likely a ref 14725, introduced 1960.

Here is the same three on a ref 14735, the hand wind variant of OPs watch, again ca 1960.

And I would agree that the dial on OPs watch has been refinished.

Agree the numerals are a legit dial variation (these DeVilles and ‘pre l-DeVilles have a huge range of dial types and finishes, some in fairly low quantities).

Yours does look like a redial. For example, look at the spacing of the minute markers either side of the 4 o’clock marker

Thank you for the reply's , It was bought in Germany end of the 60's. Nothing was done since purchased just worn for 20+ years. Would this have happened by a dealer in the early 60's. The timing doesn't seem to add up somehow.
What year do you all think the watch is?

Sorry, I meant would the dealer have done a re-dial then resold it in the store in 1967 -1968? My Uncle swears he bought it new in 1967-68 but memories fade...
I was just trying to figure out the year.
Thank you for all the help, I now know alot more than I did before.
Looking to change out the crystal, polish, new band and service of course.

I can't imagine why.

Year can be determined by the serial number found on the movement.

Unlikely that it was sold new with a repainted dial. Possibly your uncle bought it pre-owned, or he might have allowed it to be repainted at a subsequent time. It's hard to know without more information. As you noted, family stories often get distorted over time. We see this frequently on the forum, and I've encountered it many times in person.

If you can show a photo of the serial number on the movement, we can give you a good estimate of the production year.
