i’m new to the forum and mainly joined to see if anyone can identify this watch that i recently inherited from a family member.

i don’t have any additional information or paperwork, but i can take any additional photos that would make identification easier.

thanks in advance

Interesting, I have never seen anything like this. Is it quartz or mechanical?

Open the back I suppose if it's not running. That may be difficult if you don't have tools and experience. I trip to a watchmaker would be the best bet. They would usually open it for no charge.
Does it wind and click?
Does it tick tok or just tick?
If mechanical it should run a little bit after shaking it.

Looks to be good quality if real. Someone else will be along soon to help. I don't know much about ladies Omegas.

i’ll run upstairs in a bit and wind it and give it a good shake and report back. my next move was to bring it to my jeweler and have him open it up.

Welcome to the forum, the back is quite obviously stamped 18k so it’s 18k gold- unless it’s a complete fake which I highly doubt. The styling of the dial suggests a 1960s watch, have you tried to wind it?

I also doubt very much that this is quartz.
Not all models had names, the way to identify it further would be to bring it to a professional watchmaker- not jeweler.
The Omega shaped bezel is pretty cool, do you have anyone in your family who would wear it? It’s quite a statement.

thanks for the tip on the watchmaker vs jeweler. i’ll make sure to go to a watchmaker with it.

i haven’t tried winding it. i’ll go do that in a little.

mostly it’ll just be kept as a keepsake, but my wife may wear it on occasion. i agree it’s a real statement.

thanks for your help.

I tend to agree that it is real, but am not certain that it is not a "complete fake". Some faker could just stamp 18k on it after all and usually that stamp is inside the case.
The details look to be good quality. The lack of a second hand and the 1980s styling made me think quartz. I am curious now. Would be a sweet little watch if mechanical.

@Bruce235 @Syrte i grabbed it out of the safe and gave it a good shake and wound it up and nothing. no ticking at all

it’s been sitting in my grandparents’ safe for years and years though, so make of that what you will

happy to help. Read the info under that link and it will tell you a lot more. Please note the oils inside the movement may have seized and may be blocking the gears.
if the watch isn’t running when you wind it you should not insist and just need to get it serviced. You can find referrals here for a recommended watchmaker in your area, using search functions or if you post a specific query.

PS our posts crossed, did you wind fully ? You should give it as many turns as it will take in order to wind it properly, two or three turns isn’t sufficient. But once you hit the blocking point you should not force it.

i didn’t. i’ll try that now. but i’d imagine that your previous comment about oils seizing likely applies.
