Good morning experts,

I have a friend who just purchased this OMEGA, not cheap though. I have no expertise in evaluating, one thing to me that the dial looks a bit off. Please input. Really appreciate any info.

Hello,

Looks like a Omega Marine, you can search for more info in the forum, here’s a link to Omega’s chronicle section in their website.

https://www.omegawatches.com/chronicle/1932-wet-and-dry-precision

It’s an interesting watch, labeled by omega as the ‘first commercially available diver watch’ with a double case design for waterproof purposes, not a big watch by modern standards.

I have been casually following a few auctions for the past couple of years, my feeling is that the sale side always has great expectations as on average I saw starting bids from around USD 3k, I can certainly remember some lots that were passed at that min bid level, not sure about actual sales.

Also this one looks like it has some gold content on the case, I have usually seen the steel model being offered, so not sure what your friend paid for it but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was ‘not cheap’, sorry I don’t have much more to offer except that it’s certainly an interesting model but not a popular one it seems.

Best regards

The italicized OMEGA font was more common in that era, so I would want to do more research on the dial.
