Help Considering Bumper

First of all - 0 experience with vintage watches.

I saw this bumper for 650 GBP and only realized how much I wanted it when I got home, which is why I didn’t ask much and can’t tell you much about it.

What should I look out for if I am considering buying this watch?
I’m not a vintage watches collector by any means, and I am not focusing on everything being untouched (dial etc). This watch really speaks to me on an aesthetic level and I thought this could be a nice and special piece for me, also introducing me to vintage omegas.

It’s been poorly redialed, don’t buy it.

Instead do some research on similar watches and try and find one in good condition with an original dial.

Thank you for the help!
Get that it’s been redialed, but how did you identify ‘poorly’? If it were just the dial and the movement was good, could this be a not bad purchase?
I’ve spent a few hours looking online and I still find this to be the aesthetically best looking dial by far.

The three main components of a vintage watch and its associated value are in the movement, dial and case. If these 3, the dial has the largest impact on value and collectability. So a refinished dial is generally a huge ‘no’, especially when it’s not too hard to find one with an original dial.

Of course that’s just advice and the rule that collectors follow. You should buy what makes you happy but I’d say the value of this watch is considerably less than the asking price, due to the dial

I say poorly as the font is far too heavy and thick. Also, look at the alignment of the applied metal hour markers to the printed seconds track. It’s very poor. Some hour markers are touching the hashes, some are distant and most are not centrally aligned (see 9, 11, 1 and 3 o’clock)

The dial has been repainted and the minute hand seems too long. I have a similar one with automatic movement here:

A repainted dial will generally look good superficially to someone without experience. But when you have seen many original dials, this dial immediately jumps out as being sloppy and unattractive, and it has zero collectible value, because collectors appreciate originality, and a repainted dial is a total dealbreaker. The printing is sloppy and the misalignment is extreme. When I looked at the misalignment between the 12 and the Omega symbol and between the minute track and the applied 11 o'clock marker, I could hardly believe my eyes. How can you miss that?

That said, if you don't care about having a watch that appeals to collectors and just want something that looks good to your eye, then go ahead and buy it. But it would not be a "good purchase" in terms of value, and it would be difficult to sell if you ever tire of it. 650 GBP is obviously not a lot of money in absolute terms and maybe it's just pocket change to you, but you would be upside-down on the watch immediately, and even more so after paying for a movement service.

650 GBP Is WAAAY too much for that with that dial. A user came here with a similar watch about a month ago (https://www.ebay.com/itm/187811137786) in admittedly somewhat worse condition due to the case inscription (and imperfect performance), and I ended up overpaying on Ebay for it for $310. I got a feeling a more sane person would have only paid about $275.

Charging more than ~$350US for THAT watch should, IMO, be a crime of fraud. PAYING more than ~$300 US for that should be considered stupidity.

I’m a total newb and non-collector (of wristwatches, preferring pocket watches) here by a happy accident. I visit to learn and enjoy the feeling of helpful camaraderie. You were wise to check in here for advice. As new as I am, even I could see the dial issues discussed due to my recent education on this forum. Resist the impulse and you WILL find a better vintage watch to embark with.
