Hello, everyone.
New to the forum. Living in Jersey. I’m and engineer in the scientific community by trade and an aspiring oil painter. Also compete in slingshot marksmanship and build them. Here’s my site if you’d like to take a look. www.faraciart.com

Finally in a position to acquire my dream watch the FOIS.
Was wondering anyone had an idea of what the lowest average cost an Omega store accepts for these? I suck at haggling so hoped to have an honest figure before going in and over paying like the newb I am.

Wish you all a great day.

Cheers

Welcome! Nice introduction.

I think you’ll find that the Omega Boutiques rarely offer discounts, but you could get 10% - 20% at the Authorized Dealers. Of course you could get more from grey market sellers like Jomashop, or some of the sellers on this forum.

Good luck with your hunt - the FOIS is a great watch!

If you suck at haggling, and insist on an Omega boutique, you're in your element. Typically, they suck as well. Most don't offer price breaks. Generally, AD's will offer some type of discount. Good luck.

Assuming you mean the steel one? Grey dealer prices look like about 20-25% off MSRP (plus potentially skipping sales tax). You can probably do pretty close, but not quite as good, as that at an AD. I'd target 15-20% as fair. The official boutiques will probably be have you paying retail.

Hi,

Just messaged you with a NJ AD contact.

But, if you go to a NY AD that doesn't have a store/branch in NJ, you can have them ship to you and save on the tax.

I believe he's in old Jersey, i.e. in the U.K. We don't know because he just assumes that we all know where he is from his accent. I'm guessing by his signoff.

This is an important thing, as it seems to me that dealers (not boutiques) in the UK are not as flexible in price as they are in the USA or EU.

See what Brexit has wrought? LOL

Oh, and welcome aboard @Hernan! I've also fallen foul of the Omega bug and currently saving for Omega #3 🤦.

Best of luck in finding your FOIS 👍

Never thought about precision slingshotting, but why not. Lots of interesting hobbies and activities out there.

I live in "old" Jersey and whilst you are limited in choice for dealers, etc. which means they know you have less choice to shop around, the sales tax is only 5% compared to 20% in the UK so you get a12.5% discount straight away!

Thank you. I was offered 10% at a boutique today. Said that was the max they could go.

Wait, so you said the FOIS was your dream watch but you ended up getting something that looks similar but is very different?

I too was smitten with the FIOS, but after trying one on at my AD I walked away disappointed as I felt the legibility of the hands was just not acceptable. To be clear, I LOVE THAT HANDSET, it what makes the watch unique. Just my opinion. Glad you are going to try one in person. Good luck
