Hi, this is my first post.
I just wanted to say I appreciate that this forum exists and to also say hello!

I have this 18 carat Seamaster that has been put away since my high school graduation in 1984.
I never really wore a watch and I was definitely not a 'gold guy' so this has been in my mom's drawer since then.
Today was my son's confirmation and I am planning on giving this to him, but I would like to find out if this is something that I should in turn put away for him - or let him wear.
I have looked all through the Internet without finding this exact model.
If anyone can help, I would certainly appreciate it.
I am mainly looking for its approximate value, because if it's over a certain dollar amount it's getting put away..

Pretty cool watch. But I don't know about the Seamaster text? Or the Omega text for that matter. Beautiful dial either way. It's got at least the value of the gold in it. I'm not an expert though.

edit: What is going on with the crown? Is that a protrusion out of the case? I can't tell if it's that, or simply pulled out and the photo is grainy.

Definitely a fake. You can check the inside of the caseback (that I suspect will have gold plated hallmarks) and movement (that won’t be an original Omega movement) for confirmation.

This is a Mondaine movement, why does it have the Omega hallmark?

It's not a legit Omega marking. Someone just printed Omega on the movement. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the watch has no connection to Omega. I think that's pretty much the end of the discussion on this one.

Oh it's ok, I just wanted to know if I could give this to my son.
I'm actually happy I'm not giving him something of great value because he's 14...

Well <dons pedantic hat> there is actually gold.
A 10 µ layer of gold plate all over the case and caseback.

But yes, the markings are well known counterfeit hallmarks.
