Helium Escapement Valves?

Be honest guys.
All us watch nerds love buttons and winders on our watches and the more the merrier.
I don't need a watch that goes down to 600 meters but it's good to know it's designed for that.
Same with the escape valve.

They say the new 300m can reach full 300 meters underwater with unscrewed he crown. So I wonder:

Why bother screwing it? if one can no downside leaving unscrewed and (theoretically) if you screwed and forget to re-open in a decompression you may have your crystal popped out...

Why is it even screw-able?
That's not how they work, they only have a use if you are in a He saturated environment. Theoretically if you wore it inside your suit always, then you would never screw it in, and you are correct. If it is hitting water at depth then you would want it in.

The number of people who "need" a watch capable of going down to 300 or 600 (or more) meters is also very small. None of this is about "need"...these are not really being sold as practical goods.

Indeed in a sea (pun intended) (pool, office or pub) of 200, 300, 600, 1220, (or more) meters diver watch brands, if nothing else the HEV ‘Branding Feature’ distinguishes ‘certain’ Omega Diver variants from other brands even though the “need” of it is redundant for the many, especially actual divers.

It’s interesting that Omega’s deepest depth diver watch the Seamaster PO Ultra Deep Professional has a certified rating of 15,000 meters but no Branding Feature HEV. This being a prototype model strapped to a submarine rather than a divers wrist, (who would not withstand such depth pressure (so no need)) could be one of many factors for this (along with being one less area of vulnerability to the watch itself).

I suspect this has been beat to death; my perspective is - I don’t dive, did some recreational diving a few years ago and used a Timex triathlon. However, I do have a new SM300 with “the valve”...why? Because I like it

I also don’t fly, but have a few pilot watches. I buy and wear what I like and want regardless of complications
Not only that I don't dive and fly, I don't even know how swim (take that) but I have divers' watches and GMT's as well
