Whoa, wait a sec - that's a modern caseback, not correct for that vintage caliber 29x watch.

Says 9044 as reference on inner case back. I thought that's correct for late 60s/early 70s Conquests of this type with cal 29x. Could it be photos of a different case back?

Anyway, dial is good, with tritium markers and all @SeikoFanBoy

Crown is bent for sure though.

I have been taken by the watch, and I think I will be purchasing the watch.
I will be servicing the watch for daily wear so I can fix any minor issues.

Will be posting up pictures of the watch when I get it.

I think you'll be happy with it after a service and getting that crown/stem fixed and getting rid of that tatty wrong sized strap.

Good luck with the watch. This thread is a good illustration of different attitudes between collectors & users.

Looks perfectly wearable to me. Love the snail grain brushing on the dial!

Have this B&S leather nato waiting for it

The case back must be original--some kind of variation that some of us have not seen. Keep the watch if you like it, and wear it in good health! What do you end up doing? I see this string dates back to March.

I bought a 291 Conquest with that caseback several years ago from Canada:

every single one I have seen since then was a 290/1 and almost always were from Canada.

Hello, got a question relating to a Longines Conquest 7171-2 on a Cal. 291. Does the caseback below seem strange to anyone else? I am new to Longines so I thought I'd ask. Seems faded or some sort?

The case back itself looks okay. Whether or not that dial/hands/caliber originally came inside that case is another question. That's probably only answered by Longines.
