Hi all.

So on this day 52 years ago @07:50 GMT Apollo 8 launched and was the first human manned space mission to leave earths low orbit on its way to the moon and in doing so going before the many great missions that followed it. But that was not the only first's this space flight achieved but for more of those you will need to wait another 3 days. For now just a few shots of my Apollo 8 DSOM in tribute to that great event.

The bezel lume on the watch is something very special, I don't think it gets the appreciation it deserves.

This piece has tempted me for a long time. I thought I just wasn’t into ceramic cases. But every time I see it in pictures it just blows me away. Are they still being produced? A local dealer has a pre-owned for $9k but I could show interest at the OB is still obtainable.

How many (approx) of these Apollo 8's have been produced as of now? I thought it was a special edition? Second question is the 50M water resistance a problem for daily rough wear ? Does it have a screw down crown for example? Cheers

It is a "limited production" piece. We don't know what that means in terms of actual production numbers. Anecdotally we know that OBs and ADs don't always have them in stock, unlike the other DSOM models. They are not significantly discounted in the grey market. Secondary market prices are seem to be stable as well.

Not sure what you mean by daily rough wear... It does not have a screw down crown or case back. It has a ceramic case so I wouldn't wear it to a construction site or while working on a car.
