I decided to change out the hands with 321 hands kit (067PP00395) based on Sam Tamborello's recommendation. I think they are perfect.

Congrats, it is a very good idea and a nice result...

Building a CK2998-1 out of my 2012 FOIS, would prefer a base 1000 bezel but there are no rerelease of it. Does anyone know if the new bezel would fit and if so what the part number is?

There is a steel base 1000 for sale in the parts section on Chrono24 and it should fit , here is all the info you need ;

Thanks Ron, but I'm actually looking for the bezel with the black aluminum insert found on the CK2998-1, not the full steel found on the CK2915.

I see , mixed up the base 1000`s there...., sorry.
Black ones only aftermarket i think, those from Spiralwinder look pretty good.

For me it was about the legibility of the hands. I wasn't happy with the polished ones that came with it. Some may find it sacrilege to modify the watch from its original factory spec but it just didn't work for me.
Hey, it's your watch, you can do what you want!

I like it...

Looks like
I'll be pretty surprised if they don't eventually come out with a 2nd gen FOIS caseback.
Looks like spiral winder has a pre-order page that’s live for the exhibition casebacks, apparently they’ll be shipping early Feb.

I think it is very nice, what I do not like about it is that the hand for the seconds-subdial is different than the ones for the minute/hour subdials. Took this picture when I visited the Omega Shop here in Stockholm/Sweden:

My watch (to the right) is a CK2998-5 so it is not the original FOIS but it is close to 😀

The idea is the minute, hour, and seconds hands are alpha hands while the chrono hands (chronograph and minute and hour subdial hands) are white. The hands are matched to their function.

The idea is nice, but for some people, me included, mixing the shape just does not work. I would prefer only color-matched hands with the same shape. Maybe the problem for me is I don't like the alpha hands in the first place 😀

Not only do I not like Alpha hands, I don't like Broad Arrow hands either.

I don’t like that the main hands on the FOIS do not have similar amounts of lume. The hands don’t look like they are part of the same pair.

Well, just change the hands ... plenty choice with either Tr/Lu/Ba style hands.
