Hi all,
Quick question to those who have theirs. What was in the box? I ask as mine has just arrived and those credit card things don't appear to be in there and there is an empty section with an open press stud. (see photo)

thanks
Josh

Hi,

The cards are usually under the flap in the middle section, I think I can see them in your pic!

You should have a folder with the cards. And what you are seeing is the travel case. Take the whole thing out of the box, it folds up and snaps closed to give you a travel case,

The cards can just be made out at the bottom of the box. There's a black cover over them at the bottom of the smaller box.

Thanks all. My bad, did that Bloke thing of saying I can't find something before looking hard enough. The empty section is for spare links and since mine has come via delivery they are all fitted. Now just have to work out how to remove links 😀.

Thanks for the Speedy help all.

Wiha brand #26018 screwdriver should do the trick. Warming the links in hot water first makes it easier to get the screws out.

Thanks will sort that out ASAP. For now the watch is safely at home with the others. 😀

If you use a good screwdriver you shouldn't need to apply any heat to get them out, in the six contemporary Omega bracelets I've sized they didn't resist the force applied by my Wiha tool. But have a good loupe and plastic bracelet block to hold and steady the bracelet, the screws are small! I put a microfiber cloth in the block slot to prevent any scratching of the bracelet. And use purple threadlocker when reinstalling. If you aren't comfortable working with small parts get professional help.

Good suggestions. I actually messed up a couple of screws taking them out, you need a loupe to see the flats not quite right. My OB sent me 6 new ones to put with the extra links if I ever sell it.

The new and the inspiration:

Sorry for being a noob - just noticed Spacefruit = speedmaster101 the expert!

Always wondered what your views are on these omega re-issues? I understand mostly for vintage collectors they can not beat the original, but do you ever buy any modern re-issues?

P.S. The soleil dial in the original looks better in my eye in the pic you posted, possibly because of it having less of a sunburst effect.

It's a nice Easter egg, eh? 😀

There are people on here who literally wrote the book on many references. We're fortunate to be able to swim in this big ocean of years of research and passion that is shared so freely and joyfully.

Just handled one in the Roma Omega Boutique.
It's fantastic, a truly amazing watch. I thought it would perhaps be too shiny but in the shop it really isn't - of course I couldn't see it in sunlight.

The new crystal doesn't really look like hesalite, but it's beautiful indeed.

It's however a thick watch. If thickness is a problem for you, you should consider that. It looks thicker than what the specs say. It was noticeably thicker than the Aqua Terra 8500 I was wearing, and since it's 39.7mm against the 41.5mm Aqua Terra, it looked even thicker. Not a problem for me though.

Wow, the pictures look amazing. I thought my next Speedmaster would be the white dial, but this one has me second guessing myself.

I have never felt the 3861 to be thick. But compared to my SMPs and Tudor Black Bay chrono it feels like nothing on the wrist.
