·I bought this Hamilton Chronograph Automatic about 12 to 14 years ago. It’s spent a lot of time in a drawer, but I pulled it out and put a new band on it. Here’s a few pics in poor lighting:
I’ve decided to take it to a local watchmaker for evaluation of condition and a service and rate calibration. It loses about 20 seconds per day.
My question is as follows: is 20 seconds a day an acceptable rate loss for a watch like this, or do you think it can be substantially improved? I suspect it’s not worth a lot and so I’m a bit torn about the cost of a service. But I do like the watch and would like it to be maintained and more accurate if possible. It’s never been serviced.
Thank you!
