"Half" honeycomb dial?

Hello everyone, I've come accross a weird looking Omega Seamaster cal. 552 with sort of "half" honeycomb dial (that's the best way I can describe it.

The case seems to be a unishell, it's a caliber 552 automatic. From what I can tell on pictures it looks correct other than I've never come accross this type of dial on searching on google or on Omega Vintage website with a cal. 552.

Could anyone shed some light ?

Thank you

It looks like a redial and the back of the case looks odd.

What's the case ref.?

Unfortunately the guy didn't note it down and is too afraid to open it back up as he doesn't have proper tools...

It looks like a redial but who would go through the trouble of redialing it like this ?

It looks cool but too fishy

This watch looks like something I would avoid, not half, but in full.

Why? It is a Seamaster De Ville or pre De Ville case that looks correct, correct crown and movement.
I have not seen this dial before but that dont means it does not exists,

I think it's okay. I'm pretty sure I have seen other examples somewhere on this site. Caveat: I could be wrong.

First and basically, I wouldn't buy a redialed watch, though I admit the dial is interesting at least.

Second, I follow my intuition on the pics and the information the seller provided:

Unfortunately the guy didn't note it down and is too afraid to open it back up as he doesn't have proper tools...

That's why I say I'd avoid this watch and this is just my personal opinion.

I'm with @tdn-dk on this one. As I said above, I'm pretty sure there are photos of this dial style on the site, somewhere. What's the asking price?

The watch looks fine to me, I saw this weird pattern somewhere else on a Omega, can't remember which. But the pictures are quite bad.

Bids starting at 300€ but possibility to buy now att 500€.

I wish the pictures were better to attest condition. I'm holding off on it for now but I'd like to see other examples of this dial. It's interesting

Looks ok to me based on that poor pic. I have seen similar before.

Perhaps it is wise to base a call of redial on a little more than pure intuition...

I was referring with my intuition to the seller's information.

Feel free to think this dial is genuine.

I think dial is genuine as others have said. It is very hard to do redials that look remotely plausible on textured dials. Still I'd want more pics.

On a separate note: I hate when sellers take the whole watch apart for pictures. Just stop touching it. 😁

Well, the pictures are really bad (intuition). But based upon these, because the font looks clumsy, the "SWISS MADE" is totally off center and yes, I'd expect to find a minute track.

The answer to all your concerns is that the picture is blurry and was taken at an angle.

I like blurry pics. Means (often) seller isn't doing too much prepping.

Remind me of this type of dial that I see quite often, always think those are redial. I would be suprise that if someone tells me it is not.

Fair enough, I think it better for the OP to hear the reasons why as well as the opinion, since otherwise threads like this can descend into a ping pong of 'is', 'isn't, etc etc.

Personally I am less negative on it, it looks OK, but I wouldn't want to make a definitive call either way based on the info provided.

I concur. This here isn't meant to be a firework of vanities and I'm not willing to participate in useless discussions. But I'm trying to tell what I think. Well, sometimes others have different opinions than me... So what?

Need better pictures, but I think I’ve seen these before and gut says it’s fine.
