·Dear OF members.
I'm looking to sell my vintage Guilde POP supercompressor. This is my first sale post here so i'll make sure to be as meticulous as possible to help assess the condition of the watch. Of course any additional questions / inquiries are welcome.
Despite being an obscure brand, i thought it would need a small introduction: Le guilde des Orfèvres ( The Goldsmiths' guild ) was a french consortium of brands including PoP, and has been based in Haut-Doubs producing swiss made watches.
PoP probably had an affiliation with Nivada Grenchen, This very watch has the same dial layout as the Depthomatic. Few other examples can be seen online.
Now to the condition report. Here we go! 😀
- Year: Circa 1960s.
- 37 x 40 mm stainless steel EPSA case. Although unpolished, the case shows some battle scars. The screw down caseback, original to the watch shows heavy scratches and the markings are hardly legible. The watch has been used and abused as it was intended to, this was no safe queen. It was a personal preference to leave it as original as possible without polishing the case.
- The black lacquered dial had aged beautifully. The color scheme is reminiscent of the Nivada Grenchen Depthomatic from the same era. The inner rotating bezel turns in both directions as it should.
- The hands are original and their aging is consistent with the dial's. They present loss of lume.
- Double Cross hatch pattern crowns typical of super compressors. The top one is used to rotate the inner bezel, while the bottom one winds the movement and sets the date.
- New Acrylic crystal fitted. I still keep the old, deeply scratched armed crystal and will ship it with the watch.
- The ETA 2772 movement runs accuratley despite the unknown service history. The time adjustment works well and the roulette date disc changes the date after midnight. A fresh service is recommanded for this watch. The date disc is red and black ( Roulette date disc ).
- The Steel bracelet is a generic replacement.
- No box nor papers.
Overall, the timepiece is in honest condition for its age. I do hope the information provided above is sufficient, please reach out for any kind of inquiries or questions.
The watch and i are Located in Tunis,Tunisia. Please not that i'm a serious seller and would happily provide more pics, references both from professional dealers or collectors worldwide.
I'm hoping to get 299€ for this beauty, shipped, via DHL. Paypal is strongly preferred.
Thanks you for looking. 😀
