Graduation watch between 1000-1500 euros

Hi everybody!

Since I'm finally graduating this summer, I'm looking for a nice watch to celebrate!

I have a budget of 1k euros, if really streched to 1,5k euros. I love smaller sized watches, ideally in the 38-40 range, and love rather thin watches (i.e. I find watches of 15mm thickness too thick).

I specifically love vintage inspired watches, as my style of clothing includes button down shirts, leather brogues, etc. Hence, I'm not really looking for sports watches.

What would you all recommend for my preferences?

Currently, I liked the hamilton intra-matic (though it's too thick), and the Sinn 104 Sa St I in Black with brown leather strap. The Junghans Chronoscope came on my radar as well, but it would scratch too easy as it features just a plastic crystal.

Other recommendations or experiences would be much appreciated!

If you like the Bauhaus design, then Nomos would be a solid choice 👍

I would like to make some suggestions, but I'm not sure what you are looking for. You say that you don't want a sport watch, but the Sinn looks like a diver. The other two are chronographs. Is that what you are looking for? Vintage watches normally have plastic crystals, which is really not a problem.

Anyway, if you really want something vintage inspired, you might want to look at the Longines heritage line. Some of them are in your budget.

Don’t buy the Intra-Matic, it was my first watch when I was a student and I realized it looks like a dinner plate only after acquiring my first vintage watch! If you want a new watch get the Sinn 103. It is 1800 euro, but probably the best value watch under 2K in the market. I would not get a Nomos, although I understand the appeal. If you want vintage looking, get either a Junghans or a Longines Heritage.

I like the black Longines Heritage with gilt markers. It fits my preferences very well actually!

Hi Ruben, and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your coming graduation.

Well, there are plenty of different kinds of vintage watches that perfectly fit into your category of dressy looking, and also fit your budget.

An Omega Seamaster, like already suggested by Ash, or a dome dial Constellation or sometimes, if you are lucky, even a PiePan Constellation would fit you, I believe. A Longines Conquest would too, and that can be acquired new since they offer their Heritage line.

However, buying vintage watches is a mine field and I would suggest maybe lurking around here and see if something pops in the private watch sales section of this forum. Buying here is safer than anywhere else, and if you are buying in the wild, it would be better to try and gather education and info first.

You didn't mention specifically vintage watch, but a vintage looking. I believe going vintage does bring more joy and satisfaction, so that is why I showed you these.

Some fotos from IG for inspiration:

Don’t buy the Intra-Matic,

Or he can make his own decision.

I have watch you can have for postage. 😀

What do you mean?

I actually went to a physical shop to try on the intramatic and felt it was too thick for me. I'll attach a foto if I find it back! The size was perfect though

It seems that this is the Flagship Heritage, while I was looking at the Conquest Heritage. I like the Flagship too, really 😉

The conquest heritage in black:

Anyone has a preference for either of those two Heritages? And why?

You mean the chronograph? I thought you meant the dress watch!

Interesting remark. I saw the intramatic dress watch in the window of the shop but didn't really try that one. Perhaps I should. Thanks for your comment and recommendation!!

Yes, there are various differences. Make sure you look closely at the size, style of case/dial, lume/no-lume, color and location of date, etc.

I like the Longines MC Moonphase but in 42mm:

The 40mm version unfortunately cut the digit 6 by ~half.!
