I got a late night call from my dealer about a UG Tri-compax ref. 881101/1 aka the Clapton watch and if I were interested in it. The picture sent to my dealer by the seller was not so good so it was hard to tell the true condition of the watch. Problem was, there’s another buyer waiting in case I would pass. I just went with my instinct and told them I will make an offer and if acceptable, I will pay them first thing in the morning. Offer was accepted so I anxiously waited this morning for my dealer to bring the watch. When I finally saw it, I knew my gamble paid off. The overall condition is fantastic for a 50 year old watch. The dial is clear of any blemish. The bezel has no visible chips and the case is unmolested. It also come with the original Feres bracelet. Another great addition to my collection. A great partner to my other Tri-conpax
This is the watch picture sent to my dealer which is quite blurred so hard to tell the overall condition. Quite happy also that my offer was accepted which was below average market price.
Sigh... I wish I had done this when I first got into vintage. Proof that having a good dealer is an ace in the hole. Great piece.
Nice catch Eric. Was it from Cebu? For some reason there's quite a few of these there and here is the one we got there a few years back.
Wow congratz but your dealer seriously needs to improve his camera skill, cant believe he sent you a pix like that while he wanted to sell.
Or...his poor camera skills and Eric's fast thinking enabled him to snap it up while the competition hesitated.
Wow! I love that Clapton!!! Well done!!! Seriously!!! Lume plots! Red month and day wheel! Original bracelet!! Who is this dealer?
