Absolutely gutted!
I bought this omega technical dial for a reasonable price from a US seller on ebay with a buy now.

Was sent using Ebay international shipping program around August 12th ,and was given a delivery time of September 4th.

No more tracking beyond August 21st,parcel sill in the US.....then complete silence.

Today,I asked Ebay about the late delivery. They gave the option for a refund or a 'I still want the item' request.I chose the latter.

But within 10 minutes,I had a message to say a refund has been sent, which is not what I chosen, Which means, when they find the watch, its theirs.....assuming it's not stolen.
And they wont even contact me to allow me to buy it back.

Of all the watches to go missing,it had to be this one.

Movement wasn't great, but loved the dial.

Rant over

Yeah it鈥檚 crap when that happens.

I bought a Camaro a few months ago, which never arrived. Turned out to be a scam and I got my money back but I really wanted the watch!

Hi there.
Firstly I can understand the feeling,
BUT if you are located outside the US usually they have the USPS (or US internal carrier) deliver the item to a sorting place before shipping it out with another track number.
I would suggest you to get in touch with their customer service on the phone. They can help to sort things out in a more understandable way.

Keep us updated! 馃榾

Totally agree about the watch and not the money.

I can handle being outbid for a watch. But when its technical mine because I paid for it,and this happens, its feels even more harsh.

Just wish Ebay had a policy of offering a found parcel to the new owner to give some hope.

I appreciate your advice and your are correct about the USPS being the carrier,But ebay has automatically given me a refund.
I tried to contest it,but they say I can't.
Because of the refund, they are the new owner even if USPS found it.

This is news to me. I thought eBay doesn't care about what happens if a package is found after they close the case. If it shows up at your door one day, are you expected to return it back to eBay?

Sorry about the whole thing by the way. I'm dealing with something similar where my local post office lost a vintage Omega bracelet that I bought from overseas on eBay.

From my eBay experience such strange and apparently nonsensical behaviour is 100% normal for eBay... you can find plenty of others writing about it on OF.

This time the strange part is the "ownership". Usually eBay reimburse both parties then if the buyer get the item they'll ask for the money back (or in some cases they leave the item with you with money-back and also the seller has its part). First time that I hear eBay wanting the parcel!

One time my package was stuck for two month in a post office in Israel: they reimbursed me and the seller got his sale money anyway. Parcel showed up after a while and they never asked for money or item back since the case was closed (as probably went to their insurance).

Thank you, that gives me a little hope.

The ownership rule was something I read on Ebays community forum, but hope they are wrong.

I have attached screenshots of the tracking.i dont think it reached the repackaging warehouse, where they would inspect the item?
If it got lost before that and they do find it,it could be stopped going further at that warehouse because of the refund possibly?

It will probably still arrive and you can keep it IIRC.

Well... forums are like bars, everybody gets to say what they want regardless of ignorance, bad faith or whatsoever. It is the first time I hear that eBay wants to take possess of a good. Usually either both parties are reimbursed or one of the people involved get the item while the other get money. If the case is closed I don't think eBay will take further actions (parcel is lost) such as taking ownership of a watch.

I think that an issue occurred within USPS network. What I would do is contact them directly with your tracking ID. Have you tried tracking it with a tracking tool?

I have used parcelsapp.com
It says the same thing as ebays in app tracking information.

I did look on USPS website. They seem to allow the sender only to contact them.
So could try and talk to the sender, but I get the impression by their email response that they have their money and not interested.

Can only hope!
Once a package goes missing, it can go into a black hole for a long, long time. But sometimes it will show up unexpectedly after many weeks or even months. You should ask the folks at your local post office and call the manager at the sender's post office. They have some resources that aren't available online. Once you've done that, you can only wait.

I think the package only has the ebay international hub address, but not mine here in the UK.

I can see why you wanted that dial....

I can handle a watch with bad dial, but good mechanicals and case going missing, unless it has a rare movement.
But a dial that grabs your attention is far more difficult to replace.

Hard to tell, but looks like the bezel is missing. Lip around the edge that the bezel would sit on.

reference number?

It's a 166.002 with gold plated case.
But bought a stainless steel case ready for delivery which didn't happen.

That's a lesson in itself!
