·Personally, I don’t want Omega becoming like Rolex. I actually want to be able to buy a watch when I want it for no more than MSRP.

If I like I can buy it in spot or maybe wait for next week shipment, not talking about LE / SE
With Rolex I can’t try the Sub, GMT, Milgauss, Explorer I and II, damn I can’t even buy them even I want too.l without trying
for that only reason I prefer Omega stay the way it is now even if they are perceived lower tier then Rolex fort the masses

I am currently considering this watch! I'd love to see Omega do more what Rolex does, the bracelet tapering could be more say 20 to 16mm. Omega logo should replace marker at 12, move date to 3 and add a magnifier. I am not saying copying Rolex outright but DO more what makes Rolex sell so much better, I think Omega finally getting there, their newly revised Moon Watch had the thin tapered bracelet, I am a Rolex, I thought wow this is stunning! Lastly, I want to see Omega offer a box set including a spring bar tool, loupe, and an integrated rubber strap, and I'd be happy to pay a few hundred more. Give us the Happy Meal Omega set. This piece is gorgeous and saves almost $3K off Rolex Dayjust 41 before any discount AD or grey.

The new 321, real stunner and another level.
The Snoopy 50th, basically one of the hottest releases on the market. When you enter somewhere that is the watch you gonna spot from distance. Because it’s unique and innovative.
The new Bond, that had record sales during the pandemic.
The new Speedy with the updated movement and very nice bracelet.
Omega is playing very very well and the leadership is carefully paying attention to the customers.
Why should copy Rolex?
if you like Rolex get Rolex!
Omega has a pretty strong identity and history. No need to copy anything.
No one except Omega watch nerds are talking about Snoopy, Bond and Speedy...no one! That's why Omega is behind Rolex...Industry buzz and standard is Hulk, Batman, Panda etc. Oh the struggle! Omega please copy copy copy and simplify and revise your bracelets! I do think the Aqua Terra in Green is great and way better value than DJ 41, but i won't lose money on DJ41, still a good looking classic piece.

There are arguments for both brands but if your argument is omega is super innovative for releasing an identical copy of a 321 movement that already exists and a blue retread of an existing LE as being emblematic of design innovation ...i don't think that's the argument to make.
Releasing identical copies of vintage watches is pretty much as lazy as it gets.
It does still beat the palm fronds though no question

·The Snoopy 50th is definitely more innovative than the regular speedmaster. Beside having the new caliber, and an excellent choice of color for the sliver dial, it has the animated case back complication that was never seen before on a Speedmaster.
I find it quite novel, and I’m pretty sure that the Snoopy captures more attention than a Sub LV for example... just because it’s cool, playful and bold 😀

Wanting the thing you can get to become the thing you want but can’t get (at retail) isn’t going to happen.
Today, Rolex at MSRP is “wholesale” pricing.
If you’re not getting Rolex at MSRP then you haven’t qualified for wholesale pricing. Not saying this isn’t nuts, btw, but it’s how it goes.
Go to the grey market and get exactly what you want at the current market price for the piece you’re after.
If it’s the watch itself you’re after, this is the shortest (and ironically, actually cheapest) route to go.
Otherwise, please enjoy your journey through the looking glass of AD games.

Until Omega can get on that level sell at same price, it's NOT the same or alternative as a Rolex, Omega needs to do a better job designing, and the quickest way is to benchmark and "get close" to Rolex, all brands copy each other. Rolex came out with ceramic bezel, finally Omega and many other brands do too, you tell me they are not copying? Please. It's one thing to be an Omega fan because you own them lets not deny reality. Rolex outsell Omega in terms of pricing, consumer perception, resell, desirability.... How can Omega have a line up consist of 100s models only have 4 to 5 good looking pieces whereas Rolex got winners on their lineup all except Air King and Milgauss? It's like comparing Dodgers to Royals. This is my observation only. Please start your attacks. 😀
And that whatever Omega could do to take over as most valuable brand, the key would definitely not be in changing their designs and certainly not in copying.

You need to pull your head out your arse pal, Rolex are an upper mid-tier watch manufactuer, nothing more, granted they make some very nice watches, but in the watch game, they're the Johnny-come-lately, they can't even claim to have mastered any complications, something that many others, including Omega can.
The fact they are perceived as the greatest by those on the street means nothing, the better brand perception doesn't always mean the better product.
Someone should hand you a Lange or a Journe, then see how it stacks up to your GMT.
Your posts scream of someone who hasn't the first idea what he's on about.

There are a lot of other watch brands out there than Rolex and Omega. Rolex are good, so are Omega, but I would be hard pressed to say that Rolex is the be-all, end-all of watches, simply because it isn't. If you have ever seen or tried the offerings from Glashütte or even the lesser known Swiss brands such as Moser & Cie or Parmigiani Fleurier, you might change your opinion.

Same. I no longer own a Rolex, and that fact ain't keeping me up nights.
Plenty of gorgeous, well-made watches you can enjoy on the wrist and even from across the room.

It may be magic indeed. Anyway, given you feel the "heft of 904L steel"... which happens to be less "hefty" than 316L in use by other vendors, I understand the kind of "magic" you surrendered to.
Going back to the original question, no: I don't think Omega needs to be more like Rolex and, in fact, I don't want Omega to be more like Rolex. Why? Your post alone makes my evidence.

First and foremost, a lot of members are on here as they're watch enthusiasts, we aren't all championing Omega just by having a membership here, so I suggest OP have a look at the Rolex Forum and see how many other members discuss Omega and others.
The chumps who rubbish other brands and wouldn't consider buying them at full retail are usually weeded out soon enough.
Just so you know, I get way more enjoyment out of looking at and using my current Speedmaster than I do looking at my 16700

·So long Omega remains under the current management of the Swatch Group, it will never ever come anywhere close to Rolex.
Fun fact, the Swatch Group can trace its roots all the way back to the Omega-Tissot-Lemania merger at the start of the last century.
Also, is there any particular reason as to why being in the current day Swatch Group will forever preclude Omega from having the brand prestige some badly want it to have?
