For me it's really dependant on the occasion. For more dressier things the gold adds a touch of class and goes perfectly with attire. When I want to be more sporty - steel is best.

I have the new Speedmaster Professional, which I wear every day, but I don’t think of it as a tool watch. It was for decades, and a great one! But now, to me, it is more a way to remember the past and to enjoy something that looks great and is well made. If they weren’t so expensive a gold speedy would do that just as well, really better. I love the moonshine, and plan on taking a look at the Sedna before too long. The only reason I might pass is the cost, and whether I would feel comfortable with that much money on my wrist. But boy, they are beautiful.

I didn’t take pictures of my watch covered in mud. I was more concerned with cleaning it off.
You missed a spot.😝

I haven't seen any of the gold ones in person, but from the pix, I really like all three (Moonshine, Sedna & Canopus). If I had an extra $150,000 laying around, I might buy all of them. Sadly, I only have about $150 laying around...

Out of all.the gold watches I love the Speedmaster 50th Moonshine gold. I wear it everywhere.
Its a nice gold and not in your face. Love the burgundy bezel and love it represents success. A successful moon landing and return.

For me it's my lucky watch 😀 I wear it and it attracts good fortune

Let's be real, if the models were comparable in price, gold for sure!

But for now, I'm loving the steel.

If people don’t mind, a question: is the Moonshine still available through boutiques or only on the secondary market? Thanks.

I’ve heard that it might be possible to get one through boutiques—but it depends where you’re located. Officially it’s completely sold out. But what I know, this hasn’t been such a hit. One of my friend managed to get even the steel version (Apollo 11, 50th ann.) from the O boutique couple of months ago. Some say that too many of these 50th ann. watches were made...
The easiest/fastest way will be through secondary market though. Happy hunting!

Gold far less durable than steel; wouldn’t recommend gold unless it’s a dress watch.

bi-metal always feels a good compromise. I just don't think i can pull off an all gold look hence opting for the sedna with ceramic

I do like a gold Speedmaster. Especially with a gold bracelet.

Bigger issue, is wearability. With my current lifestyle, not too many opportunities to wear one.

ODE TO THE STAINLESS STEEL SPEEDY

I love my stainless Speedy Pro
It’s the perfect watch for on the go
Its tritium now dim in dark of night
It still glows brightly in UV light
I will wear it in my car
I will wear it at the bar
I will wear it for dirty jobs
I will wear it in angry mobs (USA version)
I will wear it while on my bike
I will wear it while on a hike
I will wear it for occasions sad
I will wear it for occasions glad
I will wear it while chopping wood
And proudly wear it while in my ‘hood
I will wear it at high noon
And brag that it was on the moon
It saved some guys who timed a burn
And shamed Rolex, who has much to learn
It’s better in steel than in gold
It’s timeless, cool, and never old
I wear it because it’s the perfect tool
But I will NOT wear it in the pool.

Gold vs. Steel continues...
I managed to get the steel version of Apollo 11 50th Ann. also. I have to say:
A lot more carefree experience with this steel stunner:

I have one of these as well and totally agree, it is stunning. And so easy to wear, the bracelet’s amazing.

I’m not in the market for either of them but I had the chance to see the Canopus and Sedna in person this weekend. The Canopus was my favourite of the two from the photos but I felt it was maybe too understated if anything. Loved the dial on the Sedna but that’s a very pink bracelet.

Steel all the way (at least, for now...!)

One of my favorites. It is absolutely stunning in person. Unfortunately it wears very large compared to the DSOM Apollo 8 and Black Black on small wrists. I am hoping Omega updates these with MC movements and smaller cases. 🤔
