Hi all. Anyone else out there with a mk0 dial in their gmt. I haven’t seen many of these anywhere. Here is mine anyways with puffy lume. Doesn’t look very puffy in the pics but it is much so

Serials go as early as 1.38m but most are 1.4-1.6m. Not common because they were a transitional dial -- they're from the same cliche that was used in the last gilt dial (before Singer settled on the Mark 1 cliche for the late 60's). They have the zinc sulfide puffy lume that has a tendency to crumble in spots. There was a nice one on eBay last year (should have bought it):

Ok. Very interesting. The puffy lume on mine has crumbled in a couple of spots but mostly still intact. Might show better in this photo in sunlight

not so many out there to find. I remember when people who used the UV light on them cried re lume 😀 because of the
green lume glow. I was happy to buy a few at discount. Nice watch btw.

Beautiful zinc sulphide dial, that picture in sunlight shows it best.

I recently learned of the term “day glow” from a friend who I sought help on a 5513 I purchased that still glowed, as @michaelmc mentioned I initially feared it was relumed.

Yea I also freaked out a little when I seen it glow. But I had the possibility of returning the watch if I was not pleased with it. I took it to a few Rolex enthusiasts and sent some photos to others and everyone said that it was 100% original from Rolex. I even got to see a 5513 glowing like a torch 😀. I never sent the watch back needless to say. All I need is a period correct jubilee instead of the 7206 and it’s perfect in my opinion

what is a zinc sulphide dial? Does that differ from the “long E” for example or is that also a zinc sulphide?

Here is my MK0 from 1967 1.4mil serial. Lume is white.

That lume looks off to me. Doesn't look similar to the other examples: much flatter, extends out past the dial plots, and looks more reflective and not grainy like the others.
