Y'all are starting to make a compelling case for a more generic Christmas present lol...
The key is to let her in on some of the stuff you like and see if she shows interests. I would send pics of things I liked that I saw on the web and she would give me commentary. I eventually learned what she liked based on her reaction to acquisitions I would make (she almost walked away with my Rolex Airking). She did in fact procure my Black dialed 60鈥檚 Tudor- so there ya go.

The key is to walk that delicate line where she's not angry you've procured TOO much 馃槦

That crucible is coming...

The aquaterra I bought my wife to replace the apple watch I bought my wife sits in her jewlery drawer next to the apple watch.............

Yeah, I think we often buy our significant others toys we like either because we hope they鈥檒l get involved or just because it鈥檚 an excuse to buy another toy.

You really need to gauge her interest in your hobby. For me it was easy because she knew it was a passion when we met and she appreciated my zeal for the hobby. I was very expressive about what I loved about watch collecting and In turn she became equally interested. Her tastes overlap with mine but she does like things I would never even have considered.
The easiest method to find out if she has any interest in watches iis to go to a high end jewelry store while you are out in the world on a leisurely day. Browse the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 watch selections and ask her what she likes. Have her try things on and let he tell you what her interests are.

Same here. I would show different watches in stores to see her reaction. Eventually she went for a very nice DuoFace Reverso, which she wears a lot. The price of that Reverso is worth about 15 of the watches I buy (because I'm a cheap mf, and she isn't...).

Vintage ladys' Omegas can be found pretty easily for under 500. I'm looking to pick up a steel Omega tank myself...

Well isn't this interesting timing...?

Though it is a manual...sigh

I do believe the best course of action is a combination of the above suggestions. Naturally, pulling the trigger on a relatively expensive (for me) piece like this would have to be a sure thing. But I thought you'd all appreciate the link 馃榾

What about Constellation with mother-of-pearl dial? I got for myself 28mm stainless steel Constellation Manhattan with a mother-of-pearl dial few month ago and I love it. I think Constellation is the perfect choice for ladies' first watch as it's sophisticated, feminine and the whole layout has this more modern vibes. Depending on lightning the mother-of-pearl dial looks differently - in full sun it's off white, during sunset is more pink.

I've been married for 32 years and have learned not to assume my wife is going to love the same things I do, she doesn't. Take her "window" shopping and see what she gravitates towards and lights up her eyes, with my wife it's diamonds. She has a solid gold Concord watch and band, along with other watches I've given her over the years, but they really don't get her all that excited like diamonds do. She may be perfectly content with her i-watch. fwiw

16233 for the wife. She has really small wrists too and the 36mm fits great

My wife tried this one, but ended up not buying it, because " her fitbit could count the steps and priced next to nothing, if she needs a replacement". Oh well. I figured it is better for her to decide, whether she wants it or not, because it might ended up seating in the watch box, losing the battle to an iWatch or fitbit.

I think a polerouter date can also look great on a lady with the right band...

My wife never wore a watch till I bought her this.
Its quartz but if your wife isn鈥檛 into watches, she could careless, but its a start. I got her different straps and she knows how I feel switching straps on my Speedy.

If you decided to opt for vintage, the 60s dress Seamasters are quite elegant and at 34 mm wear well on men and women.
