General Question about watch Crystal

Hello everyone,

Recently I purchased a Omega Triple Date Speedmaster on the bay. To me watch looked good and I bought it at a reasonable price. I am generally happy with the watch and want to keep it ..... but ....

After receiving when I was generally cleaning the watch soft toothbrush, I noticed some marks on the crystal that appeared to look like "oil sleeks"; blueish purple in color. The marks are located on the upper part of the crystal and mostly between 8 and 2 on the dial. I do not see them looking straight at they but become pretty obvious in reflections on the crystal. I know I can and will change the crystal, but would like to know if other forum members have ever noticed such a phenomenon? What caused it to begin with? Is it may be due to polishing the crystal?

Thank you very much for your comments.

It is because of the AR coating is being damaged. The option is to replace the crystal or apply some more cleaning to sweep out all the AR coating.

Just remove the last of the external AR coating. Older AR coatings have a bluish tent.

As above, the exterior AR coating used by Omega was a tad rubbish back in the day. All the X-33 G1 & 2 suffer from this as well.
