The posts/likes ratio is usually a good added value indicator 😀

As far as I know the one bump per thread/ Watch rule applies only to the private watch sales section as those threads show up in the Latest feed, dealer watch sales threads don’t.

Or am I missing something here? Not taking sides, just for clarification.

Cheers,

Max

To be fair both of those guys post in the dealer sales area so it's not like they are hiding anything or masquerading as collectors. The guys who grate on me are the dealers (or Walter Mitty dealers) who post in Private Sales and whose only contribution since their race to 200 are interminable bump posts for their vastly over priced wares. There are less than there used to be as several have been encouraged to move over but one or 2 still linger.

Mr. Pongster, (I presume Mr.) Do I detect sarcasm or I think the English call it being "cheeky"? If so, well played sir, well played.

I have to ask, so what?

what happens in the dealers forum, stays in the dealers forum.

Let's get this one sol....

eh, never mind.

From the mind of a simpleton, I figure if a "for sale" thread has more than a bump or two, it's not priced competitively, or it's an incredibly rare model that few people want.

I can just imagine this post biting me in the buttocks a year from now when I decide to sell something...

@padders - can you explain the 'Walter Mitty' dealer? I've seen the movie but am having a hard time understanding the reference. Genuine curiosity about the reference, not trolling. I recall him imagining events/outcomes a lot so am guessing it has something to do with this?

Pretty much as you assume. I use Walter Mitty in the sense of a wannabe or amateur dealer who wants the price advantage of selling as if a business but offers none of the service or safeguards a legitimate dealer offers. Watches fail to sell for 2 reasons, the price is too high or the interest just isn't there in the chosen audience. Posts get stale so endless bumping just looks desperate or deluded. Either lower the price or sell elsewhere.

The Claytons dealer

Claytons

Etymology[edit]
From a non-alcoholic drink called Claytons promoted in Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s as “the drink you have when you′re not having a drink”. The drink itself did not impress consumers and is now all but forgotten; the term came to be represent fake substitution or lack of commitment.

Thanks for the explanation, appreciate it! I can see the correlation.
