Funky vintage Wyler

Came across this by accident on the bay. Was smitten by it right away with the interesting octagon case. The dial design is just so crazy and follows the shape of the case. At an angle, you can actually see that there are markers at every 5 mins interval. This is a front loaded case and a manual wind movement. Since this is front loaded, I don’t have the necessary tools to look at the movement.

Saw this one, totally groovy and out of character for most other Wyler’s I have seen. Fantastic catch!

I normally hate stretchy bracelets but I do have a few made by KC Expandro which has big links like these and fixed endlinks. Hamilton and Bulova offered stretchy bracelets as factory options in their catalogs and most people now discard them thinking they are after-market junk not realizing they are chucking a factory bracelet.
That one looks totally appropriate to the watch, with fixed (not spring) endlinks, and would be curious if it was a factory option.

yes that was something I suspect too. The bracelet appears to be original to the watch to me. I am not a fan of the bracelet. It doesn’t fit me well and hence the strap option. But don’t worry, I kept the bracelet safe 😉

You just need a pair of platform boots and bell bottom pants to go with it - far out!

Check out the bracelet that came with the watch.
Oh hell yes! I would wear the shit out of that!
Put that back on that watch now!

edit- forgot it doesn’t fit- well, that has to stay with that watch until you are ready to pass it along

This looks like the same one

https://www.ebay.com/itm/382482471671

if it were mine, I would see how the links come apart to add/remove. It’s usually some magical twist and pull technique that is all about finesse and not brute force (my Expandros are genius and require no tools but if you didn’t know how to do them you would never figure them out! Then I would contact this seller and verify link size and buy it to steal a link from it.

Indeed. Will keep the bracelet in a safe place. Too bad the bracelet is too loose for me. I have a super skinny wrist.

Wow ok! You are so resourceful. It does look like it is the same bracelet. Then this isn’t original to the watch then lol. Nonetheless, it matches the watch beautifully.

Not necessarily- Zodiac and Bulova used off the shelf JB Champion and Kreisler bracelets and just put their clasp on it. Hamilton used JB flexies which looked like drug store specials. You never know.
And if it’s too big for you, then it may be possible to remove a link. Gently pull two sections at the bottom to their extreme and hold it them there- look for any indication on the underside of a pin or groove system. The expandro’s you pull two apart and flip one link 90 degrees and twist is sideways- the pins that hold the link into the channels slide inversely making it clear the channel at the extremes and the link lifts out. Then you do the same to the next and reinsert it to put it back together.
It sounds strange- perhaps I’ll do a pictorial if I get the time in the next day day or so. Not saying this works the same way, but they usually had a way of resizing.

Damn you.....now I have another one from the Bay on my watchlist. And I am trying not to buy any watches without selling another!! I know others on here have said they do that....how is that working out for you guys?? LOL I have to admit, I had never looked at Wyler's before and didn't think they were valuable or collectible, but some of them have pretty hefty prices on them. This is a beautiful, funky, and very good looking watch, wear it in good health and that bracelet matches it so well, I thought for sure it was original.
